🇯🇵✨ Hakama are traditional Japanese garments known for their elegant pleated design. Originally worn by samurai, they later became formal clothing for both men and women. Today, hakama are commonly worn at graduations, weddings, traditional ceremonies, and martial arts practice. There are two main types of hakama: Andon, a pleated skirt-like style that is most commonly worn by women, and Umanori, a divided trouser-style hakama that is traditionally worn by men. ✨

On May 2, Ms. TAKAICHI Sanae, Prime Minister of Japan, who was visiting Hanoi, Vietnam, delivered a foreign policy speech, announcing Japan’s Updated “Free and Open Indo-Pacific (FOIP)”, which launches the three priority areas of initiative for FOIP: " Building economic infrastructure for the age of AI and data including strengthening supply chain resilience for energy and critical materials", " Co-creation of economic growth opportunities through public-private collaboration and rule sharing" and "Enhancing cooperation in the field of security to ensure regional peace and stability".

On April 17, Ms. TAKAICHI Sanae, Prime Minister of Japan, issued a written message as follows for the virtual leaders meeting of the Freedom of Navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, which was hosted by France and the United Kingdom.
1. Japan expresses its appreciation for the initiatives undertaken by France and the United Kingdom.
2. We welcome the ongoing talks between the United States and Iran as a positive development and support the mediation efforts by relevant countries.
3. The Strait of Hormuz is a strategic chokepoint for global logistics and an international public good. It is essential that stability in the Strait of Hormuz is restored as soon as possible and that the freedom and safety of navigation for vessels of all nations is ensured. Japan has been making necessary diplomatic efforts to this end…
