È un’immagine che ci è subito piaciuta. Anche perché un po’ rappresenta la Biennale tutta, le nostre attitudini, le nostre finalità."
"Cosa vede la signora? Credo soprattutto un suolo desolato fatto di immense zone abitate dall’uomo delle quali l’uomo non può certo andare orgoglioso, realizzazioni molto deludenti che rappresentano un triste infinito numero di occasioni mancate per l’intelligenza e l’azione della civiltà umana. Molte realtà tragiche, altre banali che sembrano segnare la scomparsa dell’architettura. Ma vede anche segni di capacità creativa e risultati che inducono a speranza, e li vede nel presente, non nell’incerto futuro delle speranze e dell’ideologia".
