Visiting Bushtricë, in Kukës, with the Ministria e Bujqësisë dhe Zhvillimit Rural, and FAO Albania representatives, was a real highlight of the week.
Kevin and his family have built something special here — a thriving agritourism business, Zgara Bushtricë and their own milk processing unit, 'Shporta e Bushtrices', supporting over 20 local farmers.
This is the kind of community-led growth that the UK International Development Programme has proudly supported through the partnership with FAO.
Looking forward to seeing what comes next for this community.

British Government has a long-standing relationship with Albania’s financial institutions, where Tax Authority Plays a key role.
Increasing compliance in a fair level playing field serves in more income for the state budget, more public investments in education, healthcare and security and in the reduction of the tax gap in Albania’s path in joining the EU.
The meeting with DG Tax, Ilir Binaj, is a continuation of this strong relationship with the authority and in UK government’s support for the fiscal stability of Albania. 🤝

The King's Birthday Party 2026: Britain on Screen📽️🇬🇧

Last week, we gathered in Albania 🇦🇱 to celebrate His Majesty The King's Birthday, honouring the theme of Britain on Screen — a tribute to the music, art, film and television that showcase British creativity. It was a night filled with warmth, culture and great company, shared with the brilliant partners and colleagues who make events like this so special. 🏆 Congratulations to the municipalities of Has, Kamez, Saranda, Pogradec, and Diber, recognized for impactful initiatives supporting migrants and engaging with diaspora communities for economic growth, reintegration, and social inclusion.

With the support of the UK Government, the Best Community Impact Initiatives competition provided a platform for all the 61 municipalities to highlight the power of partnership and shared learning in delivering innovative, locally driven solutions on migration and diaspora engagement.

Strengthening Palliative Care in Albania: A Partnership for Change

This week, together with Hospices of Hope and Ryder Albania, we hosted a networking reception to raise awareness of and support palliative care in Albania.

Palliative care is an essential yet often overlooked area of healthcare, providing comfort, dignity, and support to patients and their families.

We are proud to support this important cause and to continue our collaboration to strengthen palliative care services across Albania.
