Here's what's powering Elizabeth, our third Tunnel Boring Machine ⚡
A second electrical substation, purpose-built to power TBM Elizabeth has been switched on in Adelaide’s west.
The Richmond East substation will be dedicated to the Project, providing a unique 22,000-volt supply specifically suited to the TBMs’ operating requirements.
Once construction is complete, the substations will then power the ventilation, lighting, traffic management and safety systems for the operation of the tunnels.

Did you know the T2D Project will be the first road infrastructure project in Australia to run three large-scale Tunnel Boring Machines (TBM) simultaneously?
Each TBM is around 100 metres long and 15 metres in diameter, which is about the height of the Thebarton Theatre or the goal posts at Adelaide Oval.
