Earlier this month the Australian Wine Roadshow China 2026 was delivered across Beijing, Nanjing and Changsha, engaging more than 1,200 trade and media attendees.

Centred on the theme ‘Taste the Adventure’, the program featured over 500 wines from 80+ brands, representing more than 40 regions. Tastings, masterclasses and immersive food and wine experiences helped position Australian wine within a broader lifestyle context, connecting it with food, travel and contemporary dining culture.

Funding from the Accessing New Markets Initiative (ANMI) enabled Austrade to build on this existing in-market presence by delivering additional activities, including business matching, buyer engagement, and targeted activations, supporting producers to expand into new markets and build long-term export partnerships.

Hear from our exhibitors as they share how the roadshow went.

Keep an eye out for part 2 of our Roadshow wrap-up! 👀

When Kaesler Wines' winemaker Tim Dolan took a deep dive into the Barossa Valley-based winery’s energy use, one thing stood out — more than 20% of the solar power it was generating was being exported back to the grid.

Following installation of a new refrigeration plant, a decision was made to replace the ageing software controlling the winery’s cooling system. This led them to Frigid.Cloud — a simple, cloud-based solution designed for wineries and breweries to control when and how cooling is used.

The smart solution has not only captured the surplus energy from Kaesler Wines' solar system but it has dramatically cut the winery’s energy costs.

Recently, the 2025–26 Great Wine Capitals Global Network Outbound Knowledge Exchange bursary recipients took the stage at Adelaide University to share insights from their global study visits.

Among them were Wine Australia-supported recipients Yihe Sui (Eva, pictured) and Sam Scarratt, whose projects explored two important areas for the sector.

Eva, an associate lecturer and postdoctoral researcher at Adelaide University, presented her learnings from New Zealand on wine stability, while Sam, CEO of Vinehealth Australia, shared her insights on disease preparedness via a pre-recorded presentation.

Australian wine is building momentum in Canada 🍷

At Wine Australia’s recent Vancouver trade tasting as part of our North America Roadshow, buyers, sommeliers and media came together to explore the diversity, quality and regionality of modern Australian wine - with strong interest in emerging varieties, lighter wine styles, and white and sparkling wines.

The event reflects broader momentum building across the Canadian market.

In the 12 months to March 2026, Australian wine exports to Canada increased 24% in value to $188 million, with 220 Australian exporters now active in the market.

New sales data and feedback from importers point to growing demand for premium, regionally distinctive Australian wines, while ongoing trade engagement continues to strengthen understanding and advocacy across the market.

More than 90% of surveyed attendees in buying positions at the Vancouver event indicated they were likely to increase the number of Australian wines in their programs following the tasting.

As consumer interest continues to grow across price points and styles, Canada remains an exciting opportunity for Australian wine businesses. Read more here 👉 https://www.wineaustralia.com/news/media-releases/australian-wine-builds-momentum-in-canada

Recently, Wine Australia and Australian Grape & Wine met with Queensland Wine Industry Association President Adam Penberthy to discuss the opportunities, priorities and future direction of the state’s wine sector.

With a focus on innovation, cool-climate and lighter wine styles, and strong industry collaboration, Queensland producers are continuing to carve out a distinctive place in the Australian wine landscape.

As Brisbane prepares to host the 2032 Olympic Games, the conversation also explored the opportunity for Queensland wine businesses to build visibility, engagement and long-term growth in the lead-up to a global event on home soil.

We look forward to continuing to work with industry leaders across the state to support capability, connection and future opportunities for Australian wine.

We wrapped up Vinexpo Asia last week, with 58 wineries and 4 regional stands on the Australian Wine pavilion showcasing the quality and diversity of Australian wine to over 14,000 trade professionals from across Asia and beyond.

The quality of visitors was strong, and the show provided an opportunity to establish new relationships, fortify existing ones, and continue building on the momentum of Australian wine in the region.

The Australian Wine Roadshow China kicked off on Monday in Beijing.

The theme this year is 'Taste the Adventure', with the program including a series of events showcasing Australian wines paired with local cuisine, bringing together flavour, place, and story.

In each city a "Beyond the Palate: Discovering Australian Wine through Chinese Cuisine" masterclass will take guests on a curated journey where Chinese dishes crafted by local chefs are paired with two Australian wines per course. The first of these masterclasses in Beijing was very well received and provided an opportunity for over 60 trade guests to gain firsthand insight into how Australian wine can pair seamlessly with local cuisines.

The US wine market remains under pressure, with declining consumption and heightened competition from both domestic and imported wines. We've worked with Wine Opinions over four years to deliver trade and consumer insights for the US market, which are shared in this week's Market Bulletin.

The research and the latest sales data shows where Australian wine can shine in the US and highlights where consumer and trade preferences are shifting, including opportunities in:

▪️ Mid-strength wine, as moderation and wellness trends continue to gain traction
▪️ Sustainability certification and how it's communicated
▪️ Varietals gaining momentum, particularly lighter styles.

There's also important insights into how consumers are making purchase decisions and what's influencing trade to add listings to their portfolios. If you're in the US market, you need to read this Bulletin and explore the research findings.
