Adelaide to Shanghai flights strengthen South Australia’s global connections 🛫🌏

A new direct flight between Adelaide and will open up opportunities for further two-way trade, tourism and international students.

The wide-bodied A350-900 Airbus offers 286 seats and 15 tonnes of freight capacity on each flight, enabling our state's to send their products into the Asia market by air freight.

China Eastern Airlines will operate three return-services each week until August as part of a seasonal service, with the airline set to return in December.

remains the state's largest two-way trading partner with $3.9 billion worth of merchandise goods exported to China in the year to April 2026.

ICYMI: The Trade Resilience Service (TRS) has been set up to deliver practical intelligence, insights and advice to support Australian businesses navigate increased supply chain volatility. 🌏🤝

Austrade will work with government partners, supply chain specialists and peak industry bodies to equip exporters with key logistic, freight and market intelligence to help them:

📍continue to supply their products to international customers
📍maintain export reliant jobs
📍identify shipping routes for essential imported inputs
📍inform operational decision making, and strategic planning.

The TRS will operate for 12 months, alongside the Accessing New Markets Initiative, helping Australian businesses build resilience through growing and diversifying their exports.

New digital hub for South Australia’s VET workforce ✅

A new digital hub is connecting the state’s 2,300-strong vocational education and training and adult community education workforce with fully subsidised opportunities to build capability and support career development.

Supported through the $10 million Strengthening the VET Workforce program, jointly funded by the Australian and South Australian Governments, the hub is equipping educators with additional support as they train the next generation of skilled workers.

Opportunities through the Hub include professional development, scholarships, mentoring, research opportunities, higher-level qualifications and pathways for industry experts to explore VET teaching.
