SUPPORTING BURNSIDE'S LOST DOGS: This morning we welcomed ABC Adelaide's roving reporter Bobby Macumber to the Burnside Civic Centre to catch up with our Community Safety Compliance Officer Lachlan.
Lachie spoke live on-air with Bobby about the overwhelming community response to our call out for donations of old blankets and towels, which are used to keep lost dogs warm while they wait to be collected by their owners. Thank you so much to everyone who has donated so far.
While most dogs in Burnside are microchipped, unfortunately there are times where a dog we have collected is not microchipped. This can make it really hard for us to get in touch with the dog's owner and reunite them. Microchipping your dog means it can be permanently identified nationwide and returned to you, even if its collar or Council registration disc has come off. In fact, not having your dog or cat microchipped is an offence under the Dog and Cat Management Act 1995, which means you can cop a fine if you haven't done it.
It's also important to ensure your dog has up-to-date registration with correct contact details so that we can reach you.

BRUSH AND BLOOM: Know a young person aged 12 - 18 who is neurodivergent, or living with a disability, and loves art?
Our upcoming Brush and Bloom program is an inclusive, small-group art program kicking off from Wednesday 29 July at the Burnside Civic Centre!
Across eight relaxed weekly sessions guided by Ruby Chew, participants will explore a range of art styles and materials, in a way that supports individual expression rather than strict outcomes. Whether picking up a paintbrush for the first time or already creating, this program is all about finding a voice through art.
Each session offers a calm, welcoming environment where participants can work at their own pace, build confidence and connect with like-minded peers. There’s also the opportunity to contribute to collaborative pieces, while still developing unique artworks to take home. Support people are welcome to attend where needed.

BLANKETS REQUIRED: Everyday our dedicated rangers work hard to reunite lost dogs with their owners. While these pups wait to be collected, they are cared for by our team at our dog holding facility. We provide our visitors with towels and blankets to keep them warm, but our supplies are beginning to run low! If you have any spare blankets or towels lying around at home, we would truly appreciate any donations you can provide to ensure our lost dogs can remain cosy while they wait to return home. Any donations can be given to our Customer Service desk at the Burnside Civic Centre, 401 Greenhill Road Tusmore.
