Veterans SA was pleased to attend the inaugural Northern Adelaide Defence Industry Networking Series event hosted by the City of Playford last week.

The event brought together representatives from defence industry, government, and the broader sector to strengthen connections, share insights, and explore opportunities across South Australia's growing defence ecosystem.

Thank you to the City of Playford and all presenters for facilitating an engaging evening of discussion and networking. Veterans SA values opportunities to connect with industry and stakeholders who support employment, transition, and broader opportunities for current and former ADF personnel.

When the Veterans SA team hit the road last month, not only did they attend the UniHub Spencer Gulf Roadshow to highlight the value of veterans in the workforce; they also spent time visiting local veterans, RSLs and sites in the regions.

Many valuable and insightful conversations were had, a few tours taken, work by community organisations shown off, and reflective time was spent acknowledging the strength of South Australia's veteran community.

📸 Pictured here are just a few highlight snaps, including a visit to the Port Pirie RSL and Military History museum , Port Lincoln RSL Memorial Garden where the team spent some peaceful time honouring those laid to rest. You'll also see some photos of the murals at the Port Lincoln RSL that were recipients of the Anzac Day Commemoration Fund for the 80th Anniversary of the End of WWII: 'The Mother's Journey' and 'The Railway Place'.

We can't wait to get out on the road again and hope to see you all soon. 👋

Today, we honour the courage and sacrifice of Australians who served in Bomber Command during WWII.

From 1941, increasing numbers of Australians joined Bomber Command in Britain, flying missions deep into enemy territory as part of the Allied bombing offensive.

They served in both Royal Australian Air Force and Royal Air Force squadrons, often in multinational crews, taking part in major operations against German cities and industrial centres. These missions were among the most dangerous of the war.

Around 10,000 Australians served with Bomber Command and nearly 4,000 lost their lives in what became one of Australia’s costliest air campaigns of the war.
