An important reminder for people in Port Lincoln. 👇
Port Lincoln will take part in an AusAlert community test on Saturday 20 June at 11.00 am.
AusAlert is a new national warning system that sends emergency messages to compatible mobile devices.
During the test, your phone, tablet or smart watch may receive a Priority Alert, including a loud siren-like sound and vibration lasting around 10 seconds. The national emergency alert test will sound even if phones are on silent or Do Not Disturb.
If you are in a domestic violence situation and have a hidden or safety phone, you can turn off your device or switch it to aeroplane mode before the test.

During Refugee Week, we celebrate 'A Million Stories'. The 2026 theme recognises the one million people who have been welcomed to Australia through humanitarian programs since 1947.
Each story is unique, powerful and has helped shape local communities. One of these stories belongs to DHS staff member Jamila Ahmadi. After fleeing Afghanistan and arriving in Australia by boat as a 7-year-old, Jamila has shown incredible courage, resilience and determination to build a new life while overcoming extraordinary challenges.
Read her inspiring story and how she's now helping others:
‘I just wanted somewhere where I felt safe’
Jamila Ahmadi was 7 when she arrived in Australia. 25 years later, she's helping South Australians find a sense of belonging.

South Australia's Week of Ageing Well begins on 1 October every year and is a celebration of living and ageing well.
In 2026, the theme celebrates Building Age-Friendly, Connected Communities, with a call to action for everyone to build connection every day. The week aims to encourage people of all ages to connect with and support each other. We all have a role in reducing isolation and loneliness.
One of the best ways to support the Week of Ageing Well is by hosting an event in your community. Events can be simple, creative, and tailored to your local interests. Whether you’re a council, organisation, community group, or individual, you can help foster meaningful connections.

We're thrilled to have been named Employer of the Year at the 2026 South Australian Pride Awards! 🌈✨
Presented at the annual South Australian Pride Awards Gala, these awards recognise those making a meaningful contribution to LGBTIQA+ inclusion and equality.
What makes this recognition especially meaningful is that winners are chosen through voting by members of the LGBTIQA+ community.
This award reflects the collective efforts of our people to create inclusive services and a workplace where everyone feels respected, valued and able to bring their whole selves to work – something we’re incredibly proud of!
What a way to celebrate Pride Month!
