Safer school bus access for Brooklyn Fields students!

Martins Albury have confirmed with Transport for NSW that school services S859 and S860 will begin travelling through the Brooklyn Fields Estate in Thurgoona.

This change removes the need for students to board and disembark along Table Top Road, where many have had to cross without safe infrastructure. Improving safety and access has driven this update.

Two playground locations within the estate, as shown below, will be used for all students from Monday 29 June 2026. The current stop at Kelly Place will be discontinued and buses will no longer stop there.

AlburyCity will install the required signage and infrastructure over the coming weeks.

An SRV update from our Interim CEO Steve McGrath.

We're seeking community feedback on a potential Special Rate Variation (SRV). Thank you to everyone who has already taken part. We’ve seen strong interest from the community, with many people learning more, asking questions and sharing their views.

To make sure you have clear and accurate information, visit Engaging Albury. You’ll find:
- Why this conversation is happening
- The three options being considered
- Answers to frequently asked questions
- A rates calculator to estimate the impact on your property

No decision has been made. This consultation is about what matters to our community and how we balance affordability, maintain infrastructure, deliver essential services and support future growth.

The QEII Square public toilets are now closed due to scaffolding installed on the NSW Government building. This step was needed to keep the area safe during works.

We’re working with the building owners on the future of these facilities.

You can use the toilets at the LibraryMuseum or Wilson Street Car Park.

You can also view a full list of public toilets here: https://alburycity-open-data-portal-alburycity.hub.arcgis.com/search?q=toilet

Thanks for your patience. We appreciate this is short notice and apologise for any inconvenience.

Mayor Kevin Mack recaps last night’s council meeting.

The Albury Swim Centre will stay open this winter, and the draft budget has been accepted. We’re now inviting feedback on a proposed special rate variation as rising costs continue to impact how we maintain roads, parks and essential services. No decision has been made.

Our supplier, Cleanaway, is currently experiencing a shortage of lime green compostable liner rolls.

To avoid unnecessary trips, please hold off visiting our customer service centres or libraries to collect liners until we’ve confirmed more stock is available. We expect more liners to be available in early July and will share an update once they arrive.

In the meantime, you can continue using your green lidded bin:
- Place food waste in a paper bag, such as a mushroom bag
- Or, wrap it in newspaper before putting it in the bin

Only lime green compostable liners are accepted in the system. If you’re running low, a neighbour or friend may have spare rolls to share, as liners have a shelf life of around two years.

Thank you for your patience and for continuing to use the food waste service.

“Now. Urgent. Final notice. Immediate action required…”

Scammers create a sense of urgency, so you feel pressured to click, pay or respond straight away. But you can always stop and check first.

🛑Stop: don’t let urgency push you into action.
✔️Check: verify the message through official channels.
🛡️Protect: call your bank if you’ve been scammed and report it to Scamwatch.gov.au
