High school students in the Toowoomba region soared to new heights as they got a taste of a career in aerospace through the Launchpad 2027 program. ✈️✨
Using virtual reality technology, students experienced realistic, scenario-based tasks inside a digital hangar, providing a first-hand look into what a job in the industry could look like.
More than 100 jobs will be needed in Toowoomba over the next decade with Boeing Australia establishing its first final aircraft production facility outside North America.
Delivered through the Gateway to Industry Schools program, initiatives like Launchpad 2027 are key to connecting students with future career opportunities, helping them make informed decisions, and building a skilled workforce for Queensland's future. 💪
Seventeen projects across Queensland have secured funding to deliver micro-credentials in priority industries, helping more Queenslanders access flexible, job-focused training opportunities. 🚀✨
From health and aged care to construction and automotive, these projects will deliver training online and in multiple regions across the state.
Micro-credentials play a vital role in Queensland’s training ecosystem, providing short, accessible learning pathways that support professional development, drive innovation and boost productivity.
Round 4 of the Queensland Government's Micro-credentialing Program will provide $3.75 million to deliver the training.

“It’s been really good for getting a feel for what working life is actually like after school,” she said.
For Ayva, her proudest moment was serving her family during their stay at the resort.
“It was a bit surreal but really rewarding. It made me realise how much of an impact good service can have on someone’s overall experience.”
After 10 years in the electrical industry across Zimbabwe and Central Queensland, Hazel switched careers to help train the next generation of electricians. 🔌⚡
Now a teacher and senior electrical facilitator at Tec-NQ, Hazel says nothing beats seeing a student succeed.
“Assisting a student to go from struggling with the basic principles of electrotechnology to suddenly getting it, provides a level of professional pride that a finished installation cannot match.”
Teaching has given Hazel the chance to give back to the trade, while also opening doors to leadership opportunities, career progression and better work-life balance.
Hazel now leads the electrical teaching team in Mackay and is helping inspire and support the electricians of tomorrow. 👏
