Busy Connecting

Ok here's something I've been thinking we need to discuss for sometime.😉

It's something that is happening to many but no one is talking about it & I feel I need to speak up as lately this has been happening more!

Are you using a VA/lead generator to send cold messages to others?

Does this even work for you?

I have been inundated by these type of messages over the last couple of months, and I've asked around and I'm not alone here. I've been messaged that much that I now just message them back with my generic response (see below if you want to use it!) & then if I don't get a genuine response I block, ban & delete the original connection.

There's 2 things that concern me here -

1. It's sad as some of these original connections I would have worked with but if this is how they do business with little care & connection then it's a big NO for me.

It's an ick way to do business & it reminds me of that guy at the shopping strip that asks - can I ask you a question?, do you have a moment? or the worst one ..... hello beautiful lady🤮

It feels like the virtual version of shoving your business card at someone - trust me they are never looking at it again AND

It's a hard NO from me.❌

2. The most concerning is recently I left some of these hanging with my generic response (see below) to wait & see if anyone was checking in & to my horror what I've discovered is now that I'm linked into the VA/lead generator now instead!!

How do I know this because when I respond I use their name & now their name is there in the message still but the connection is their VA who was obviously using their own account doing the messages so now the business owners have been removed & the VA is building their own personal data base.

This seems very sneaky as I've never linked with the VA & now they are messaging me asking me if I want to use them for lead generation. 😮

So, if you're doing this or using someone to do this for you at least give them a script or funnel to softly get that call booked or just DON'T and instead connect in a more genuine way.

People often ask me why I chose a bee as the logo for Busy Connecting.

The answer is simple… because bees represent everything I believe business and community should be.

And honestly, that’s exactly how I see business and our wider business community ecosystem.
