🙎🏽♀️Susan weights 70kg and told me yesterday very proudly: I ran 15km and I already lost 2 kilos!
🙍🏼♂️However, John said: wait what? I have been on a plan to lose weight for the last month and I just drop 3% on body fat.
Who is in a better position? Is it Susan or John?🙎🏽♀️🙍🏼♂️
📐Body composition analysis can be done with different techniques and methods, they all have pros and cons. However, the most important thing is to learn when to apply them and why. Which one is the outcome we want to measure?
💧If Susan had used bioimpedance before and after her run, she wouldn’t have been that excited. She is just dehydrated and lost 2 litres of sweat during her run, not body fat. Give her some water and she will regain that weight in no time.
🧈John, on the other hand, has been systematically reaching a caloric deficit to lose 3% of body fat, and probably will be able to check this with several methods: bioimpedance, skinfolds, DXA and so on. So, it is not a quick fix, he did lose 3 kg.
🧐Have you been in this position before? Do you know when to use the handsaw or the hammer? Is your body composition analysis a roller coaster all the time? (I bet you are probably just checking your body weight…)
