Since J.A. Henriques was appointed Consul in 1852, the United States of America has maintained a consulate in Melbourne, Australia.

The United States Consulate General in Melbourne represents American interests in Victoria, South Australia Tasmania and the Northern Territory across areas of public outreach, defense, political, and economic developments.
