Over two years ago, I started experimenting with a recipe that would eventually become one of Proud Phoenix & Co.’s signature products. Countless batches, endless taste tests, and plenty of trial and error led us to our launch in May 2025.

As our business started to grow, one thing became very clear—we were going to need a lot of honey.

From day one, I’ve always believed that if I can support local businesses, farmers, and passionate producers, I will. I reached out to beekeepers across my local area, hoping to find someone who shared those same values.

The response was always kind, but often the same.

“We’d love to help, but with the unpredictability of the bee season, we don’t want to promise something we can’t consistently supply.”

I respected their honesty, but I still hadn’t found the right partner.

Then, one sunny Friday afternoon, everything changed.

I was stopped at a set of traffic lights when I happened to glance to my left. Sitting beside me was a truck with big, bold yellow and black signage.

Pure Peninsula Honey.

I laughed to myself and thought, Well… if that’s not a sign, I don’t know what is.

So I did what most people probably wouldn’t.

I picked up the phone and called them.

I gave what was probably the most cringeworthy sales pitch imaginable, explaining that I was searching for the best beekeeper in Victoria and somehow, the universe had parked their truck right next to me.

There was a brief pause.

They were polite… a little surprised… and probably wondering who on earth this person was. After all, they’d never been propositioned at traffic lights before!

The very next day, I packed up a few jars of our chilli oils and made the trip to meet the team.

One taste was all it took.

Even the people who normally didn’t like chilli oil were hooked from the very first mouthful.

From that day forward, Pure Peninsula Honey became far more than a supplier—they became part of the Proud Phoenix & Co. journey.

Sending Mum Back to Her Motherland 🇻🇳❤️

This trip is extra special.

We’re sending Mum back to Ho Chi Minh City, the place she calls home and where her incredible journey began.

We work hard so we can give back to the woman who sacrificed so much for our family. Every opportunity we’ve had is because of her courage, resilience, and determination. This trip is our way of saying thank you.

Mum is the OG in every sense of the word. Back in 1978, she created her original Crunchy Garlic Chilli Oil recipe — long before chilli oils became a trend. It was made with love, tradition, and the bold flavours of Vietnam, and it’s the foundation of what we proudly share today.

Seeing her back in her element, bargaining with the locals, navigating the bustling markets, and reconnecting with her roots is something truly special. She hasn’t missed a beat. 😊

Everything we do is built on the sacrifices she made and the traditions she passed down. None of this would be possible without her.

To our Mum — thank you for your strength, your sacrifices, your recipes, and your unwavering love. You’re the original creator, the original hustler, and forever our OG. ❤️🇻🇳
