A powerful video work by Bianca Hester, made on Dharawal land of the Wodi Wodi Nation, NSW.

This work traces the Permian-Triassic extinction line, a geological boundary visible in the Illawarra escarpment marking Earth's greatest mass extinction 252 million years ago. This boundary, reflects ancient climate shifts driven by intensified carbon in the atmosphereโ€”echoing current ecological crises.

A powerful meditation on fossil fuel dependence, colonial histories, and our entangled relationship with land and climate.

Nimmoโ€™s paintings delve into the ambiguous relationship between nature and its observer. His work evokes the sublime tradition of landscape painting, mingling feelings of awe and dread. Nimmoโ€™s forest scenes appear devoid of human presence, yet alive with unseen energies and historical hauntings.

A rich tapestry of symbols, poetry, body language, and shared community codes. The work tells an intimate story drawn from the artistโ€™s own life. It is decorated with illustrations, drawings, and poetry, alongside censored poetry by q***r poets writing in Farsi/Dari. Together, these elements reveal how q***r identities and contributions have often been overlooked or reduced to a single narrative, leaving q***r bodies and voices invisible, hidden, or erased from public history.

The multi-part card trick, Sam the Bellhop was created in Chicago in the 1930s and made famous by the legendary magician Bill Malone. Here, it is adapted and performed by Shen in the guise of a professional magician, for an audience of Aboriginal spectators. The intricate script of the trick is updated to become a story of Aboriginal joy and celebration, with culturally authentic slang prompting genuine, unrehearsed reactions.

Inspired by Shenโ€™s childhood fascination with stage magic, this work provides important cultural diversity to the predominately white history of stage magic.

Don't miss Annika Koops' ๐ป๐‘Ž๐‘›๐‘‘ ๐‘–๐‘› ๐บ๐‘™๐‘œ๐‘ฃ๐‘’.

This work employs the tragicomic grammar of mime to explore how digital technologies imitate life.

The film follows a CGI figure whose movements trace mimeโ€™s lineage. The mime is positioned as a deeply ambivalent figure- servile yet anarchic, charismatic yet anonymous. One is never sure if their play is enjoyed or enforced, reflecting the free labour that underpins digital economies. The work enacts a tension between these two possibilities.
