How great is it to meet face-to-face, IRL 🫢

Our Regional Care Navigation team is all about that - bringing social connection and information for carers to local spaces in regional Victoria. And after delivering a staggering number of successful events over the past few months it was great for the team to come together in person for a full-day planning session.

What makes our regional engagement so successful is that the team are all locals to the regions they support. They come from all over, including Barwon, Gippsland, Grampians, South West, Loddon Campaspe & Goulburn, Ovens Murray & Hume, and West Metro Melbourne. This means they are connected into the communities they support and have an instinctive understanding of the specific issues faced by carers where they live.

Getting together at out head office in Melbourne, was a fantastic opportunity to connect, share insights, and focus on how we can strengthen delivery of meaningful support to carers in our regional communities.

Great energy, strong collaboration, and lots of ideas for what’s ahead πŸ‘

If you care for someone with accessibility requirements, or have accessibility requirements yourself, you’ll soon have more support navigating the public transport network through the GoodMaps app.

Currently being trialled at Bendigo, Geelong and Tarneit stations, GoodMaps is a wayfinding app designed to help passengers move through stations more easily and independently. It provides audio assistance and visual directions to key facilities, including platforms, bathrooms, information counters and coach bays.

Staff at participating stations will continue to support passengers and provide assistance when needed.

Following the trial period, GoodMaps will be gradually rolled out at train stations across Victoria, making our public transport easier to use for everyone.

If you need help accessing support in your caring role, please contact our team at Carers Victoria. https://www.carersvictoria.org.au/about-us/contact-us/

We are excited to share the fantastic work of Australian Multicultural Community Centre Foundation. Recognising the crucial need to support carers in our multicultural community, Carers Victoria awarded the Australian Multicultural Community Centre Foundation a Connecting Carers in Their Community (CCC) grant this financial year.

The grant has helped the Foundation deliver meaningful activities and building strong engagement with carers in their local community.

Their efforts continue to make a positive difference, supporting connection and wellbeing for carers have been further rewarded with ongoing support from Hume City Council. This support enables them to continue their work with carers beyond the CCC Project β€” a fantastic outcome and a real testament to the value of their program.

πŸŽ₯ Take a look at their promotional video. It offers a wonderful snapshot of the activities and the impact they are having.
