Consul-General Furuya visited both Ikeda City (池田市) in Osaka, sister city of City of Launceston Official TAS, and Bizen City (備前市) in Okayama, sister city of the Clare & Gilbert Valleys Council SA. He met with the mayors of both cities to discuss strengthening sister city ties 🇯🇵🇦🇺.

Consul-General Furuya visited two towns in Hokkaido that have sister city relationships with 🇦🇺cities: Akkeshi-cho (厚岸町役場), a sister-city of the City of Clarence in Tasmania, and Honbetsu-cho, a sister-city of Mitchell Shire Council in Victoria. He met with the mayors of each 🇯🇵town to discuss strengthening the 🇯🇵🇦🇺ties.

Consul-General Furuya, who was accompanying the Governor of South Australia on her visit to Japan, had a great conversation with the Vice-Chancellor and President of Flinders University and Mr Hiroshi Ibusuki (an A-League footballer who used to live in Adelaide).

The Governor of South Australia visited Okayama Prefecture, South Australia’s sister prefecture/state, and Tokyo to mark the 50th anniversary of the signing of the Basic Treaty on Friendship and Cooperation between 🇯🇵 and 🇦🇺. The visit was a great success.
