UFC Freedom 250 Watch Party. The power of Ultimate Fighting Championship’s sports diplomacy was on show in Sydney. UFC Freedom 250 was the first-ever mixed martial arts event held at the White House. The special watch party in Sydney comes on the heels a new public-private partnership signed with UFC by Secretary of State Marco Rubio to advance sports diplomacy and develop educational programming around mixed martial arts. Australia has a large and growing fan-base. Our thanks to host Peter Kloczko, Senior Vice President of UFC Australia & New Zealand.

Great friends in Queensland.

The Sunshine State is leading the way in many of the key U.S.-Australia priorities, including defense, advanced technology, and critical minerals. It was an honor to represent the U.S. at the inaugural Queensland Parliamentary Friends of the United States gathering in Brisbane. A special shout out to the support of Queensland Premier David Crisafulli, Parliamentary Speaker Pat Weir, and especially Friends Group co-chairs Deputy Speaker Jon Krause and Mark Ryan, MP for their work to further strengthen our enduring partnership.

Consul General Cornforth also visited RZ Resources in Brisbane this week which has funding from the U.S. Export-Import Bank, enabling a secure supply chain of titanium, zircon, and rare earths. President Trump has made international cooperation on critical minerals a strategic priority and Queensland has a massive role to play in that.

Turning 200 and still going strong! U. S. Chargée d’Affaires Erika Olson and U.S. Consul General Jeremy Cornforth had the pleasure of touring the State Library of NSW as it celebrates 200 years!
Libraries hold a special place in our societies and the NSW State Library is celebrating a milestone with a year-long program of exhibitions, talks, and performances. It was a highlight to visit the Mitchell Library reading room which has hosted high level USG visitors including Secretary of State Pompeo and Senator John McCain, the Shakespeare Room, and learn all about the history of this incredible institution. Worth a visit! https://www.sl.nsw.gov.au/events/curating-200th-anniversary-exhibitions

"Our partnership remains a cornerstone in ensuring a resilient and secure space domain." 🚀

It was a pleasure to welcome General B. Chance Saltzman, Chief of Space Operations, United States Space Force, to Canberra and Sydney.

During his visit to Canberra, General Saltzman signed a Joint Statement of Intent with Chief of Joint Capabilities, Lt Gen Susan Coyle, reaffirming the strong and enduring partnership between the US and Australia in the space domain, met with Admiral David Johnston AC, Chief of the Australian Defence Force (Defence Australia), and laid a wreath during a moving Last Post Ceremony at the Australian War Memorial.

In Sydney, General Saltzman spoke at AmCham where he discussed U.S. Space Force priorities and the agency’s structure, strategic direction, and evolving role within the broader space domain and U.S. military. While at the United States Studies Centre, General Saltzman emphasized close collaboration with industry and the factors that drive innovation, capability development, and long-term investment. He also took part in a traditional Aussie pastime - going to the AFL to watch the Sydney Swans take on Collingwood Football Club.
