Last week we delivered the inaugural Bayside Youth Summit at Beaumaris Secondary College, in partnership with Beaumaris Secondary College and facilitated by Youth Leadership Academy Australia (YLAA).
Over 120 young people from Years 7โ12 across six schools came together to build leadership skills, connect with others and share ideas for positive change๐ก
Young people played a key role throughout the day, leading conversations, working in teams and creating a space where everyone felt heard and empowered.
Bayside Mayor Cr Debbie Taylor-Haynes opened the summit, reinforcing Councilโs commitment to valuing young peopleโs voices and working alongside them.
A big thank you to everyone who supported the summit, including Beaumaris Secondary College, YLAA, participating schools, young people, Peer Leaders and Bayside City Council staff ๐
โจ Stay tuned for the ideas and more youth-led initiatives coming soon.

Ride smart. Ride legal. Ride safe ๐ฒ๐ด
Weโre reminding all riders in our community to know the rules before heading out.
E-bike rules:
๐ Maximum assisted speed: 25 km/h
โ๏ธ Motor (with pedal assist) cannot provide power above 25 km/h
๐ช Helmets must be worn at all times
๐ฃ๏ธ People 13 years and older may not ride on the footpath, unless accompanying someone younger than 13.
Modified or petrol-powered bicycles are illegal.
Unsafe riding can lead to fines, injuries, and bikes being confiscated. Letโs keep everyone safe and respect our shared spaces.

E-scooters are a fun and convenient way to get around, but the rules are there to keep riders and the wider community safe. ๐ด

๐ค Riders must be aged 16 years or over
๐ Maximum speed is 20km/h
๐ชHelmets must be worn at all times
โ๏ธ E-scooters cannot be ridden on footpaths.
Unsafe riding puts riders, pedestrians and other road users at risk and may result in fines or enforcement action.
