Cheap chargers from discount retailers, second-hand markets and sellers stocking brand ‘dupes’ can cost you more than you bargained for 🔥⚡

✅ Always use accessories that are manufacturer approved.

✅ Always look for the RCM (the tick in the triangle) which shows the product meets Australian Standards.

✅ Avoid the risks of fire, electric shock and damage to your devices by never using cords or chargers that show signs of wear and tear.

Plug in with peace of mind.

Hitting ‘snooze’ on this reminder could cost you more than you realise.

Gas heaters need to be serviced once every two years by a qualified gasfitter to make sure they’re working safely.

An unserviced gas heater can degrade and leak deadly carbon monoxide – a silent, odorless and tasteless gas which can quickly pool inside your home… and kill.

A qualified gas service can stop the risk of carbon monoxide poisoning before it kills.

Before you go to sleep, hit the ‘off’ switch on heated blankets this winter 🔥😴

Invisible electrical faults or damage to cords can cause overheating – risking fire while you sleep.

✅ Pre-heat your electric blanket before going to bed – then hit the ‘off’ switch when you turn the lights out.

✅ Check cords before use. Don’t risk electrical danger to you and your family if you see damage.

✅ Replace damaged electric blanket cords and controls or get them repaired by a licensed repair-person.

Enjoy a warmer winter without risk.

As winter creeps in, be sure you’re not inviting danger into your home.

✅ Before you use gas appliances (like heaters) make sure they’ve been serviced in the last two years by a qualified gasfitter.

✅ Before you use your electric blanket, make sure no cords are frayed or damaged. Don’t leave it on all night and turn it off when it’s not in use.

✅ Before you plug electronics like heated blankets and electric heaters into powerboards, make sure you’re not overloading the board with too many plugs. Make sure the powerboard has a safety switch, and that it’s in good condition before use.

✅ Before you use your outdoor gas patio heater, make sure it’s outside in a well ventilated location. Never use these indoors.

Stay safe when staying warm.

A new set of eyes in the sky will soon help our teams work more safely, efficiently and effectively in the field 👀

Our Regulatory Operations team recently completed intensive drone training with a Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) certified training partner, building a capability that will transform the way inspections, investigations and incident response are conducted in the field.

The 5-day program combined classroom learning, practical flying experience and formal assessment, giving our team the knowledge and skills required to safely operate drones in a regulatory environment.

This capability will help us to:
✅ collect evidence while maintaining safe distances from potentially hazardous assets.
✅ capture fire patterns as soon as practicably possible to establish where, how and why a fire started
✅ streamline investigations by giving our teams greater flexibility in the field

As the use of drone technology becomes increasingly common across the energy sector, we look forward to how this capability can help improve energy safety outcomes across Victoria.

Anyone can *say* they’re qualified… but real safety comes with what you can’t always see at first glance.

Before electrical work begins, always check your electrician is carrying a valid electrician’s licence card.

It’s your proof they have the training, expertise and legal authority to do the job safely.

Only trust a licensed electrician to do electrical work. Never do electrical work yourself – it’s illegal.
