We’re looking for caring volunteers to assist our elderly clients on the ITSOWEL community bus.

The role is simple but incredibly important: helping people safely on and off the bus, offering a steady arm when needed, sharing a friendly chat, and helping make every outing enjoyable and stress-free.

For many of our clients, these bus trips are more than just transport – they’re a chance to connect with others, get out into the community, and enjoy a brighter day.

You don’t need any special qualifications, just patience, kindness, and a willingness to help.

We are excited to share with you that our new vehicle has arrived! Transport has been an issue for some time for ITSOWEL and the needs of our older people. Unfortunately we were not successful in receiving any funding support. However, a Board and Management decision was made that investing in the needs of our seniors, who have delivered much to the Illawarra, was our priority. We thank Tynan Motors in Wollongong for supporting us in the purchase of our vehicle.

Last week our new member of our team, Catherine, commenced the Stepping on Program in our social groups. Our Stepping On Program is delivered in a group setting and can be accessed by our Support at Home clients as an individualised service. It covers a range of issues, including falls and risk, strength and balance exercises, home hazards, safe footwear, vision and falls, safety in public places, community mobility, coping after a fall.
