Teachers vs Students Volleyball Showdown! 🏐

Who runs the court at Yeronga State High School? Last week, our students put that question to the test as they organised an epic Teachers vs Students Volleyball Challenge!

Students lined up throughout the event, taking turns to take on the staff team in a series of spirited matches filled with great rallies, plenty of laughs, and some surprisingly competitive moments.

While the students brought the energy and determination, the teachers managed to hold their ground and claim the overall victory (we're sure the students are already planning their rematch! πŸ˜‰).

Events like these are what make Yeronga State High School such a special place. Beyond the classroom, they help build positive relationships, school spirit, and a strong sense of community where students and staff can connect, have fun, and create lasting memories together.

Congratulations to the student organisers for putting together such a fantastic event and to everyone who participated! πŸ˜ŠπŸ’šπŸ’›

WORLD REFUGEE DAY >> Yesterday, our school community came together to celebrate World Refugee Week through music, creativity, culture and connection.

Students joined Maddy from HEAL and our dedicated Wellbeing Team for a vibrant lunchtime event featuring djembe drumming, art activities, storytelling, dancing and shared experiences that highlighted the richness of our diverse community.

This year's World Refugee Week theme, A Million Stories, recognises the one million refugees welcomed by Australia since World War II and reminds us that every person brings unique experiences, strengths and perspectives that enrich our society.

Thank you to everyone who participated and helped create a welcoming space where students could connect, learn and celebrate multiculturalism together.

πŸ‡―πŸ‡΅ Could your family host an international student?

Next term, we’re welcoming two wonderful girls from Japan to our school, and we’re looking for host families for a two-week homestay experience.

All that's needed is a bed (a shared room is perfectly fine!). Host families receive financial support that more than covers living expenses, and the application process is simple. No Japanese language skills are requiredβ€”these students have earned their place through their excellent English skills.

🌏 This is a fantastic opportunity to share cultures, make new connections, and create lasting memories.
