The Focused Edge Sharpening

I'm sure this is surprising to some and odd after posting about having a logo made, but sometimes such is life.

This has been a long time coming as running this sharpening service has become increasingly untenable for a myriad of reasons.

I was planning to operate until at least the end of October, but unfortunately it's become necessary to stop now instead.

I really appreciate everyone who has used my services over the years and I apologize for the inconvenience this may be for some of you. Please feel free to message me about finding an alternative service that might work for you.

Chip removal and thinned geometry on this Henckels chef. Finished just with 220 sandpaper and a 2k edge as it's not an overly expensive knife.

Major correction I did on these poor abused scissors

Swipe for repair » These scissors needed a complete overhaul to the bevel geometry and a ride line restoration. There's a lot to unpack here, but most noticeably the previous sharpener couldn't be bothered to take literally 30 seconds or less to disassemble these to do them properly. Because of this laziness the bevel was ridiculously thick and obtuse and they still ground into the tensioner bar and the ride lines were completely gone. There was even a chunk missing from the base of one of the blades. Scissors like this just won't cut well at all. This is just unacceptable work and apparently they charge similar to my regular service prices. I take apart every pair of hair scissors I work on, not just to clean them but because it just isn't possible to properly sharpen most modern hair scissors without doing so. This pair in particular also got an ultrasonic bath before I corrected the bevels and restored the ride lines. I took a picture part way through doing the first blade to show the difference between the smooth full convex I did compared to the chunky edge bevel previously done. . . . . . . . . . . . . . #hairscissors #sharpening #scissorsharpening #sharp #abbotsfordbc

A tale of two Bokers. One new production; one old production. The first one came in for its second hone and the second one is one I picked up from an antique shop to restore specifically for this customer. He loved the full hollow 5/8 and wanted another that would feel similar, so why not the same company, give or take a few decades. I'm more of a functional restorer, focused more on the practical tool aspect of reviving an old piece like this. I don't do the glamorous restorations that cost hundreds to get your vintage shaver pretty, but I do think this one turned out pretty nicely. Both finished on an 1 micron stone, which so far from my testing seems to be one of the best synthetic razor finishers I've used.

**Announcement**

Due to a recent large influx of work as well as the overall stress of this year that everyone has experienced, I will be stopping sharpening service dropoff at the end of this week until the new year. It's been a rough year for everyone and this holiday season is as good an excuse as any to slow down. Thank you to everyone who has kept me busy using my services to keep your tools sharp!

Most hair scissors come in with pivot areas like the first pic. It's just a byproduct of your hard work. No judgement, that's why I'm here. I clean every pair of hair scissors I work on and oil them to restore that glide. No point in sharp blades with a gunky clogged pivot causing resistance.
