On Saturday, June 13, the Sts’ailes Fire Department responded to a vehicle fire at a local campsite. Prior to our arrival, the camp host and others on scene had already acted quickly, using a fire extinguisher and multiple jugs of water to extinguish the fire.

Upon arrival, SFD crew ensured the fire was fully extinguished and checked for any remaining hot spots or hidden embers that could potentially reignite, especially with the warm weather conditions.

This serves as an important reminder of the value of having a fire extinguisher readily available and knowing how to use it. Quick actions and being prepared can make a significant difference during an emergency.

Thank you to everyone who assisted and helped prevent the situation from becoming more serious.

This evening, the Sts’ailes Fire Department responded to an unattended burn pile measuring approximately 3.5m x 3.5m. SFD arrived on scene and safely extinguished the fire.

This is a reminder to the community that the fire ban is still currently in effect. Even during rainy weather, fire bans remain active until officially lifted.

Category 1 campfires are expected to be permitted again starting Friday, May 15 at noon. Category 2 and 3 will still be prohibited.

We had multiple people notifying SFD members through Messenger regarding today’s fire. We appreciate everyone looking out for the community, but if you are reporting a fire or emergency concern, please call the Fire Department directly at 604-796-2888.

Please continue to follow all fire restrictions and help keep our community safe.

We’re often asked how the public can support our firefighters.

Beyond kindness and words of encouragement, the most meaningful support is helping make their job safer and more manageable.

🏡 FireSmart your home and property. Simple steps can significantly increase your home’s resilience to wildfire and reduce the risk of damage.

🔥 Help prevent wildfires. Be responsible with open fire and mindful of activities that can spark fires. Fewer human-caused fires means crews can focus on the ones that can’t be prevented.

When you reduce wildfire risk and protect your property, you’re not just helping yourself, you’re directly supporting the firefighters working to keep our communities safe.

Yesterday, we had a field trip visit from the SCC Grade 3s at the fire hall 🚒

Our Deputy Chief, Clint, spoke with the students about heat exhaustion and the importance of “Close Before You Doze.” The kids also got the chance to try on firefighting gear, explore the fire truck, and ask lots of great questions.

Thank you for spending the afternoon with us!
