Albertans aren’t dumb. Time to vote for change.

Vote TORY

The Politics of Self-Preservation 06/10/2026

People keep asking:

"Why aren't more UCP MLAs speaking up?"

Having sat in that caucus and around the cabinet table, I think I know the answer.

Self-preservation.

When speaking up carries political risk, too many choose silence.

In a healthy system, your first responsibility is supposed to be your constituents and the public interest - then your party - and lastly, the leader.

But when that order gets flipped, political survival starts to outweigh doing the right thing.

That's why you're seeing so many MLAs suddenly trying to change the narrative around separation and extremism.

The politics shifted.

Albertans started paying attention and suddenly some MLA’s found their voice.

But leadership isn't changing your message when the polls change.

Leadership is standing up when the chips are down.

Guthrie says Alberta separation referendum signals “beginning of the end” for UCP 05/29/2026

“Smith knows this would have become the ballot question. And she will lose. If she loses this vote, this becomes a lame duck government. The UCP may exist as the government going forward, but it’s the beginning of the end.”

Alberta asked for growth, now this government is blaming the people who answered the call.

For years, the UCP actively promoted Alberta across Canada and around the world, encouraging people to move here to grow our economy and fill critical labour shortages. Newcomers stepped up contributing to our communities, workforce, and tax base.

Now, instead of taking responsibility for strained housing, health care, and infrastructure, this government is looking for someone else to blame.

Let’s be clear:
• Population growth was encouraged by government policy.• Immigrants and newcomers are vital to Alberta’s economy.• Managing growth is the government’s job and this government failed to plan for it.

Albertans deserve a government focused on solutions: more housing, stronger public services, infrastructure investment, and evidence-based policy that plans for the future instead of scapegoating people.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Let’s be clear: the Tory Party didn’t provide an electoral list, because we don’t have one, and we wouldn’t use one this way, if we did. That’s not how we operate.

What did happen here is a serious breach of trust. People are rightly asking how their personal information ended up where it shouldn’t be. That frustration is valid, we all know what it’s like to be added to lists we never signed up for. It’s not acceptable, and it’s not something we’re going to shrug off.

We believe in doing the work the right way - earning support, not scraping it.

Protecting Rights and Upholding the Law

Rights and freedoms are foundational – they must be protected, not set aside.

We will restore Charter protections, ensure laws are tested through the courts, repeal existing uses of the notwithstanding clause, and introduce clear limits on its future use.

Because every Albertan deserves the right to be heard.
