Today is National Indigenous Peoples Day and we celebrated this at school on Friday. All classes created a board to highlight the resilience, strength, accomplishments, and success of Indigenous Peoples and we did a gallery walk to see the boards. We gathered on the field for a few words and a Round Dance in the afternoon.

Dancers from Kick It Up A Notch Academy of Dance (featuring many Shortreed students) performed for our students last week!

Ms. Kaur’s class harvested the potatoes they have grown!!!

On Tuesday, we had our 2026 Diversity Day and Proud to be ME Parade. Thank you to everyone who shared a little about what is important to them!

Another epic Shortreed Sports Day!!! Thank you to all the staff who made it happen, all the kids who participated, all the families who were able to come out and cheer them on, and the BGMS WEB leaders for running the stations!

The rain came out to cheer us on for our Wheels Parade on Friday but this didn’t stop all our riders from showing their decorated bikes, scooters, helmets, strollers, and rollerblades! What a great finish to our week!!!

Langley Environmental Partners Society came to a few of our grade 1 classrooms last week to teach about being “Waste Warriors”.

These kids were so engaged in their Writer’s Cafe earlier this week! Ms. Henry’s class really showed their pride in all the progress they have made with writing this year.

Thank you to our wonderful PAC volunteers for the yummy sundaes they made with our students! And a big thank you to Aldergrove Freshco for their generous donation of ice cream and whipped cream for the sundaes!!!
