The bridge is back! As of 2PM today, June 17, Blakeney Bridge will reopen to car traffic, with the addition of a new pedestrian/active transportation lane protected by bollards. Landscaping in the park will continue for the next little while, along with clean up from the construction.
PLEASE NOTE that there are new speed limits through the bridge area, and that a new speed limit of 40km/h will be brought in to the village of Blakeney itself in the next little while.
Blakeney, Ontario
Blakeney is a quaint rural village in Mississippi Mills, Ontario. Although long-since demolished, there once were a number of thriving mills in Blakeney.
It is now home to a small park with a walking trail and scenic views of the Blakeney Rapids.
Heads up! Blakeney Bridge is now under construction and there is no access to the park from the village side. Throughout the process, which will last until December, access to the park will be maintained from County Highway 29 through to the parking lot.
A (gentle) reminder to visitors to please do their best to keep the park clean, either by taking with them any and all garbage that they've brought with them or by placing it in the supplied garbage receptacles.
