The Corridor Gallery at the Almonte Branch is pleased to feature the artwork of our very own, Henry Hamilton!

Henry has worked at MMPL as a Library Page for the past 3 years and we’re so excited that he can showcase his artistic talents for you all to see. The display is on until August 8.

Henry has been interested in art for as long as he can remember, and he’s constantly exploring new styles, subjects and mediums. Recently he’s been focused on making watercolour and pen illustrations inspired by travels to Europe, and time spent exploring the forest at his cottage in the Lanark Highlands. He has also been working on a series of faeries, trolls and other magical creatures which are heavily inspired by the works of the great fantasy artists Alan Lee and Brian Froud. Henry is currently taking a gap year to focus on hobbies, traveling and making art, and will be starting a BFA degree at University of Ottawa in the fall.

It is the 30th anniversary of National Indigenous Peoples Day! It's a time to recognize and celebrate the traditions, cultures and contributions of First Nations, Inuit and Métis.

National Indigenous Peoples Day takes place on the summer solstice, the longest day of the year. For generations, many First Nations, Inuit and Métis communities have celebrated their cultures, languages, and traditions at this time of year. The summer solstice holds deep spiritual and cultural significance for many Indigenous Peoples, marking a time of renewal, connection, and celebration.
