A huge thank you to everyone who continues to support the Nova Scotia Firefighters 50-50.Your support helps volunteer departments like ours replace and upgrade essential equipment when it reaches the end of its service life.

These new helmets are the latest addition to our gear, helping keep our firefighters safe and ready to serve our community.

Last night our members reviewed Chapter 13 of Essentials of Firefighting- Hose Streams ๐Ÿ’ฆ

This involved a classroom session and hands on training. Our department operates a low pressure fixed gallonage configuration. This means that our nozzles operate at a lower pressure for the same volume of water. When combined with low pressure hose and appropriate pump pressures, it results in low reaction force for the firefighters on the line. This means advancing hose is easier and fatigue is reduced.

Members trained using and 1 3/4โ€ attack line with both fog and smooth bore nozzles, 2.5โ€ attack line and a 2.5โ€ quick attack ground monitor. All these tools give us a variety of options depending on the situation we encounter.

Next up, advancing hose lines for fire attack and forcible entry. Stay tune!

If this looks like something you may be interested in, please reach out. We are always looking for new members! ๐Ÿง‘โ€๐Ÿš’๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿš’

Milo would like everyone to know that the department has purchased two of these beautiful picnic ๐Ÿงบ tables to keep outside the station for our members and those organizations that use our hall.

These tables were purchased using our proceeds from the Nova Scotia Firefighters 50-50.

These tables were built and stained by Sunset Industries in Pugwash. This local organization employs persons with disabilities in the manufacturing of wood products. They make many items and many of those items are made using recycled construction materials. It is a WIN WIN WIN for everyone! Please check them out!

We recently purchased 25 sets of coveralls for our members. Used for a multitude of events, wildland, vehicle extrication, off road calls. They are a vital part of PPE for our group.
These are the types of purchases the Firefighters 5050 contribute to.
