Together, our village showed what’s possible.

This May, A Village Can raised an incredible $1.4 million to support families and individuals facing housing instability in our community.

At a time when many households are feeling the effects of rising costs and affordability challenges, this outpouring of generosity is especially meaningful. Every donation, every shared message and every act of support reflects a community that understands the urgency of the housing crisis and believes that everyone deserves a safe place to call home.

We are deeply grateful to every person who gave, shared and stood alongside us throughout this campaign. We also extend our heartfelt thanks to our generous matching donors — Gary and Janeen Nissen, Sean Collins, Karen Rostad, Wieland and Sue Wettstein, the Boris Rochman Fund at Calgary Foundation, the Trevor and Amy Cooper Family Legacy Flow Through Fund at Calgary Foundation, The Hope & Aspire Fund, and anonymous donors — whose leadership inspired others to give and helped amplify the impact of every contribution.

This campaign was a powerful reminder that when a village comes together, lives can change.

Thank you for being part of ours.

From preparing meals and supporting children with homework to helping at special events, volunteers play a vital role in making families feel welcomed, supported and cared for.

For close to 30 years, The INN has worked alongside families in crisis, helping them move toward stability and independence. Volunteers help bring that mission to life every single day.

For Tiffany Pompana, Manager of Indigenous Engagement at The INN, this work is deeply personal.

Raised by parents in the helping field, Tiffany was inspired early on by the impact of supporting others. Her father, a residential school survivor, found healing through helping those on their own journeys — something that continues to shape Tiffany’s approach today.

Her path became clear while working at a shelter supporting women experiencing housing instability. “It was during that time that I realized my passion for supporting my community,” she said.

At The INN, Tiffany helps lead Moccasin Pathways, creating space for families to connect through cultural activities like drum making and ribbon skirt making. These shared experiences foster relationships that extend beyond the program.

She is also helping lead The INN’s role in an upcoming housing initiative in Whitehorn, in partnership with Miskanawah — a project centred on community, connection, and Indigenous identity.

“This work creates opportunities for Indigenous people to reclaim, strengthen, and celebrate who they are.”

For Tiffany, the impact is rooted in the resilience of the families she walks alongside. One moment that stays with her is a family who, after facing significant barriers, was reunited.

“I grew up in care, and I didn’t want that for my children,” the mother shared.

It’s a reminder of the strength and determination behind every journey — and why this work matters.

A safe, stable home can be the foundation for a brighter future.

Thanks to generous funding from CREB® REALTOR® Community Foundation, Journey House is becoming an even safer and more welcoming place for families experiencing housing instability.

Journey House provides permanent supportive housing for families with unique needs, combining safe housing with individualized supports that help build resilience, strengthen skills and foster long-term independence. More than a place to live, Journey House is a place where families can heal, grow and move forward.

This investment will help ensure families continue to have access to safe housing and supports that create lasting change.

Thank you to CREBNow Community Foundation for helping strengthen our community and support families on their journey home. 🏡❤️

Today is a celebration of what becomes possible when organizations come together with a shared vision and a shared commitment to community.

Eighteen months after groundbreaking, the ribbon was cut on the Whitehorn Family Housing project. Today wouldn't have happened without the collaboration, compassion and leadership of Inn from the Cold, Miskanawah and HomeSpace Society whose partnership helped bring this project to life.
