Today, we recognize and uplift all fathers, father figures, and the many people who show up in ways that guide, protect, and support others. Whether through quiet presence, steady encouragement, or hard‑earned wisdom, your impact matters in shaping strong families and connected communities.

We also acknowledge that this day can bring mixed emotions. For those carrying grief, distance, or complicated relationships, we see you. However, on this day, when it lands for you, your feelings are valid; take the time and care you need.

Fatherhood and mentorship show up in many forms. The care, lessons, and resilience shared across generations remind us of the importance of showing up for one another.

Ninanâskomitin (thank you)

June 21 marks National Indigenous Peoples Day, a time to celebrate and honour the histories, cultures, and contributions of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Peoples.

This day also aligns with the Summer Solstice, a sacred and significant time for many Indigenous communities. It is a time of long light, reflection, and gathering to honour the sun, recognize growth, and celebrate life, culture, and spirit.

This season reminds us of the importance of staying connected to the land, uplifting community, and carrying forward the teachings that guide us. It is also a time of oski pimâtisiwin, new life and renewal, as the energy of the sun brings growth, strength, and possibility.

We recognize that connection and celebration can look different for everyone. Whether you are gathering in community, reconnecting in your own way, or taking time to reflect, your experience is valid.

If you are in the Calgary area, we encourage you to take time to learn and engage in ways that feel meaningful to you. You might consider attending the Walk for Reconciliation, joining The Gathering at Moh’kinsstis, or visiting community celebrations at Heritage Park and across the city to learn from Indigenous voices, artists, and Knowledge Keepers.
