✨ Service Excellence Awards Spotlight ✨
The Rising Star Award is presented to a new employee who has been with Bethany for less than a year and is already demonstrating that they are an exceptional member of the Bethany team. This employee demonstrates tremendous passion for their work and for Bethany’s Mission, Vision, and Values.
Congratulations to this year’s honouree, Rina, Care Services Manager at Bethany Calgary.
Since joining Bethany, Rina has quickly made a positive impact through her kindness, professionalism, and commitment to supporting both residents and employees. Her approachable nature and collaborative mindset have strengthened teamwork and communication across units.
Rina is known for taking action when challenges arise, whether coordinating discussions to improve care practices or helping employees navigate day-to-day issues. She consistently goes above and beyond to support residents and colleagues across the site, not just within her own team.
Through her proactive approach, strong leadership, and dedication to others, Rina has made a meaningful impact in a short time and exemplifies the qualities of a Rising Star at Bethany.
Thank you, Rina, for the positive impact you make every day.

Thank you to Vermilion Energy for your meaningful contribution to Bethany Calgary.
Through a generous donation of flowers and the hands-on support of your Summer Student volunteers, you helped transform our outdoor spaces. Residents, families, volunteers, and employees will now enjoy bright, colourful gardens throughout the summer season.

Last week, residents at Bethany Riverview proudly showcased their creative work at the Opening Minds through Art (OMA) gallery and silent auction.
OMA is an intergenerational art program that supports people living with dementia through creative self-expression while promoting social engagement, autonomy, and dignity. The connections formed through OMA are just as meaningful as the artwork itself.
Throughout the event, volunteers shared how much they had learned from residents, the joy they found in creating together, and how those relationships had impacted their own lives.
Thank you to the residents, volunteers, employees, and supporters who make this program possible!

“I want to help create a community where people can feel like they belong,” says Arlene. “My goal is to merge the various ethnic, cultural, social, and religious groups into one holistic group where there are no barriers to involvement and participation.”
As we celebrate Seniors’ Week and this year’s theme of 40 Years of Connection, Contribution, and Community, we’re proud to recognize residents like Arlene who help make Bethany’s communities feel like home.
Arlene has called Bethany’s Kanerva House home for the past five years and is an active volunteer and familiar face within the building. She serves on several resident committees and helps organize activities and opportunities for connection throughout the year. She also plays an important role in coordinating birthday celebrations, farewell gatherings, memorial services, and card and board game activities for fellow residents.
Arlene credits Bethany employees and the strong sense of community within the building for helping residents feel informed, safe, and supported as they age in place.
Thank you, Arlene, and all our seniors, for helping create caring communities where everyone feels welcome, connected, and valued.

As we celebrate Seniors Week and this year’s theme of 40 Years of Connection, Contribution, and Community, we’re proud to recognize tenants who help make Bethany’s communities vibrant places to live, connect, and thrive.
Neil and his wife Jean have called Mikkelsen House home for the past five years. As President of the Social Committee, Neil plays an active role in fostering connection, inclusion, and community spirit among tenants.
Through the Social Committee, he helps organize daily coffee gatherings, monthly dinners, movie nights, games, holiday celebrations, outings, and intergenerational events with community partners such as Summit Kids.
Neil has also partnered with local businesses to provide affordable celebratory meals for tenants and helped raise funds to refurbish the second-floor games room, creating a welcoming space where tenants can gather, socialize, and enjoy friendly competition.
“This is a safe, positive and caring environment for me and my wife,” says Neil. “Being here gives peace of mind to my children, knowing that we are being well looked after.”
Thank you, Neil, and all our seniors, for helping make Bethany’s communities welcoming places to live, connect, and belong.
