Accessibility and inclusion should never be an afterthought.
At our Bright Night for Autism Gala, we wanted to create an event where more people could feel comfortable, supported, and able to fully participate. Some of the ways we worked to make the evening more accessible and inclusive included:
✨ Offering a sensory-friendly meal option.
✨ Having fidget toys available at every table.
✨ Including a dance break during our keynote speaker’s speech.
✨ Providing a sensory room for guests who needed a quieter space.
✨ Creating an AAC bar where guests could learn about AAC devices and use them to order drinks.
Accessibility looks different for everyone, and small changes can make a big difference in helping people feel welcomed, included, and able to engage in ways that work best for them.
We encourage others planning events, gatherings, and community spaces to think about ways accessibility and inclusion can be built in from the start. When we remove barriers and create spaces where people feel safe being themselves, everyone benefits.

As we recognize National AccessAbility Week, we are reminded that accessibility and inclusion grow stronger through connection, participation, and community.🌱
Our Quest participants recently spent time volunteering with senior residents, helping support them with gardening and planting by assisting with bringing residents outside, filling pots with soil, repotting plants, and spending meaningful time together.
Experiences like these help break down barriers for everyone involved. They create opportunities for Autistic adults to build confidence, develop skills, and be recognized as active and valued members of the community, while also helping foster understanding, relationships, and inclusion with the people they support through volunteering.
Community involvement is an important part of QUEST because accessibility is not just about removing physical barriers. It is also about creating spaces where people can connect, contribute, participate, and belong.

"Thank you for giving us a safe space to play."
This was something we heard from several participants throughout our Dungeons & Dragons: Quest for a Cause event, and it perfectly captures why this day was so special.
At CFASA, creating safe, welcoming spaces where people can connect, have fun, build community, and be themselves is at the heart of what we do. Seeing adventurers gather around the table, share laughs, solve challenges, and make new connections was a powerful reminder of how meaningful those spaces can be.
A huge thank you to Kevin and the entire team at The Resplendent Cave for partnering with us to bring this event to life. Their creativity, dedication, and passion helped create an unforgettable experience while raising $2,147 in support of Centre 104 and the programs that help Autistic adults build connection and community.
Thank you as well to every player, volunteer, donor, and supporter who joined us on this quest. You helped make our first-ever D&D fundraiser a critical success, and we are so grateful to have shared the adventure with you. ⚔️🐉

Happy Pride Month!
Pride Month is a time to celebrate the LGBTQIA2S+ community, recognize the importance of visibility, inclusion, and acceptance, and acknowledge the ongoing work toward equity and belonging for all people.
At CFASA, everyone is welcomed, respected, and accepted regardless of gender identity, gender expression, or sexuality. We believe that people deserve to feel safe, comfortable, and valued exactly as they are, and that commitment is reflected in how we design and deliver our programs, supports, and services.
Creating inclusive and welcoming spaces is not something we only think about during the month of June. It is an ongoing commitment that is considered year-round in the way we support participants, families, staff, volunteers, and our broader community.
We strive to create spaces where people can show up authentically, build meaningful connections, and feel a true sense of belonging.
