Every older adult has a story, and every face reflects a lifetime of experiences, contributions, and connections that help shape our community.
As we begin planning the 2027 Directory of Senior Services, Sage invites older adults from diverse backgrounds, cultures, identities, abilities, and life experiences to participate in our Sage Faces Photo Project. Selected photographs may be featured on the cover of the 2027 Directory, a trusted resource used by thousands of seniors, families, caregivers, and service providers each year.
Through this project, we aim to celebrate the rich diversity of Edmonton’s older adult population and increase the visibility of seniors in all their individuality, strength, and vitality.
Please note: Taste of Edmonton has started now on Churchill Square across the street from Sage. While this offers another reason to venture downtown and visit Sage there are some transit and road adjustments as a result.

June 15 is World Elder Abuse Awareness Day, an official United Nations International Day that recognizes elder abuse as a critical public health and human rights issue.
This year’s theme, “The Power of Connection: Breaking Isolation, Preventing Abuse and Growing the Conversation,” reminds us that meaningful connections can make a powerful difference in the lives of older adults.
How can we work together to break isolation and prevent abuse?
• Commit to learning about elder abuse and its impacts
• Reach out and talk to older adults in your community
• Spread awareness and start conversations
• Know the signs of abuse and neglect
• Report suspected abuse when you see it
One of the most effective ways to prevent elder abuse is simply to be there. By connecting, supporting, and reducing isolation, we can help ensure older adults live with dignity, respect, and freedom from abuse.

Movement isn’t just about workouts. It’s about confidence, energy, and doing the things you love for as long as possible.
Canada’s movement guidelines for adults 65+ look at the whole day and encourage:
- participating in a range of physical activities (such as weight-bearing, aerobic and balance)
- breaking up long periods of sitting
- getting the rest your body needs
This is about doing what works for you, safely and consistently.
