👏 Investing in rural healthcare education and emergency preparedness!

At the end of May, RHPAP was proud to fund an ALARM (Advances in Labour and Risk Management) course in Canmore, bringing together healthcare professionals from across the community for two days of hands-on learning and collaboration.

A total of 24 rural healthcare providers participated in the training, including:
🔹 4 physicians
🔹 19 registered nurses
🔹 1 midwife

Programs like ALARM help strengthen obstetrical and maternity care skills, support interdisciplinary teamwork, and enhance the quality of care available to rural patients and families.

Thank you to all the participants for their commitment to continuous learning and excellence in rural healthcare! 💙

Learning never stops in rural healthcare! 📚💙

Thanks to support from RHPAP’s Rural Education Fund, six registered nurses from St. Joseph’s General Hospital in Vegreville completed an Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) on May 13–14.

By investing in ongoing education, rural healthcare teams can continue to grow their skills, strengthen patient care, and ensure children and families receive high-quality care close to home.

They saved his life!

Not that long ago, David Guba had a heart attack while at his home in Stettler, AB. On his way to the hospital by ambulance, his heart stopped twice. Both times, paramedics brought him back to life.

Today, David calls those life saving paramedics his "angels".

Yesterday, an emotional David thanked them publicly at an RHPAP Rhapsody Healthcare Heroes Award celebration in Stettler.

Stettler District Ambulance Association is the 2026 recipient of that award.

Congratulations to Stettler District Ambulance Association, recipient of the 2026 RHPAP Healthcare Heroes Award!

Unlike many ambulance services in Alberta, Stettler District Ambulance operates independently under the guidance of a local board of directors, maintaining a strong connection to the people it serves.

Meet the paramedics, hear their stories, and discover how community partnerships, local training opportunities, and a commitment to patient care have helped create a thriving ambulance service.
