My trekking set-up and my hill training for Nijmegen Walk 2026...I do repeat hills (Blair Road, Ottawa) with about 25 lbs of carrying weight..just to "stress" the quad muscles. On the 3rd day of the walk in Nijmegen ( Holland) there are nine hills start at about the 20kms location...for about 10kms.

My Canada & "Canada Veteran Walker" marketing hat for my upcoming Nijmegen walk ( Holland ). I am also carrying two flags on my backpack, Canada Veteran clothing as well, for the walk.

Nijmegen Walk - socks. I have used these Wrightsocks since 1998, while doing my 1st Canada military walk, at Nijmegen. I continue to use these socks, and Podium Sports ( Canada) have donated 6 pair for the 2026 event.. #15 for me in 2026

The "big picture" of the Nijmegen Walk with me as a "Canada Veteran Walker" are three-fold:
1. Canada Veterans are recognized as supporters //participants at the walk, even though many have already retired from the military.
2. Future Canada Veterans, who follow in future years will not have to fight to get recognized as Canada Veterans at the Nijmegen Walk; and
3. Canada Veterans could actually have a Canada Veteran "symbol", both in Canada and internationally.
Hopefully, many years down the road there will actually be a full Canada Veteran Team, at the Nijmegen Walk..
