Through the Irene Despard Fund, Salus clients can apply for financial support toward education, wellness, and recreational opportunities that help build confidence, independence, and connection.

From laptops to running shoes to musical instruments, these funds help make meaningful goals more accessible for adults living with severe and persistent mental health conditions. 💛

When the volunteers at Calvin Christian Reformed Church heard supportive housing was being built in their neighbourhood, they decided to welcome future residents in a very special way.

Their quilting group lovingly created handmade quilts, each one unique. When the quilts arrived at Capilano, residents were invited to choose the one that resonated with them. Diane was immediately drawn to a quilt covered in butterflies, a symbol that holds deep personal meaning for her.

We are so grateful to these volunteers for sharing not only their craftsmanship, but their compassion. Your kindness will bring warmth and comfort to residents for years to come. 💛

A meaningful new chapter begins at Salus.🏠✨

Last week, we celebrated the opening of Capilano — a first-of-its-kind supportive housing community in Canada created for older adults living with complex challenges.

From the ribbon cutting to the tours and conversations shared throughout the day, it was inspiring to see so many people come together to mark this milestone.

Capilano offers 54 studio apartments, including 8 barrier-free units, alongside on-site supports designed to help residents stay safely housed, connected, and cared for.

We’re proud to support a more age-inclusive and dignified approach to care in our community.

A home is more than four walls and a roof.

It’s the support you feel when you’re starting over. The freedom to rebuild at your own pace. The tools and guidance that make each next step possible.

Stability looks like safety. Warmth. Structure. A place to land — and a place to grow.

Knowing where to find that support is the first step forward.

Big changes ahead for Salus 👀

We’re getting ready to move into new office spaces. This means a lot of boxes, a lot of packing… and apparently a bit of a workout too.

Here’s a peek at our team getting move-in ready.

A safe home can change everything.

For Nancy and her daughter, supportive housing through Salus meant stability, independence, and renewed hope.

Monthly donors help make these life-changing moments possible for more families. 💙

Sometimes it’s the simplest moments that mean the most ❤️

Recently, one of our community developers took a group of clients down to ByWard Market to enjoy a true Ottawa classic — Beavertails. A chance to get out, share a treat, and spend time together.

A big thank you to for the generous gift and for helping make the day a little sweeter.
