Last night we hosted a panel discussion titled “Ordinary Heroes: Stories of Courage and Compassion Told by Hungarian Holocaust Survivors”, where three 🇭🇺 Holocaust survivors shared their personal stories, paying tribute to the ordinary Hungarians whose courage and compassion saved their lives. The event was opened by Ambassador Miklós Lengyel and concluded by 🇨🇦🇭🇺 Senator Charles S. Adler. 🕯

Tegnap este „Ordinary Heroes: Stories of Courage and Compassion Told by Hungarian Holocaust Survivors” címmel rendeztünk panelbeszélgetést, ahol három 🇭🇺 holokauszttúlélő osztotta meg személyes történetét, felidézve azoknak a hétköznapi magyar hősöknek a bátorságát és emberségét, akik megmentették az életüket. Az eseményt Lengyel Miklós nagykövet nyitotta meg, a záróbeszédet Charles S. Adler 🇨🇦🇭🇺 szenátor mondta. 🕯

As the FIFA World Cup kicks off in Canada today, diplomatic missions came together for a friendly football tournament. 🇨🇦⚽ Team Hungary 🇭🇺 advanced all the way to the round of 16, where they faced the eventual tournament champions, Morocco 🇲🇦. After a hard-fought match, the Hungarian team was narrowly eliminated in a penalty shootout.

Miközben ma kezdetét veszi Kanadában a FIFA-világbajnokság, a diplomáciai képviseletek egy barátságos labdarúgótornán mérkőztek meg egymással. 🇨🇦⚽ A magyar csapat 🇭🇺 egészen a nyolcaddöntőig jutott, ahol a torna későbbi győztesével, Marokkó 🇲🇦 válogatottjával találkozott. A küzdelmes mérkőzés végül tizenegyespárbajban dőlt el, ahol a magyar csapat szoros vereséget szenvedett.

More than 800 visitors joined us this weekend for Doors Open Ottawa - Portes ouvertes Ottawa 🏰

Guests had the chance to step inside Birkett Castle, the Residence of the Ambassador, and test their observation skills with our bingo game, which required keeping an eye on every detail.

While waiting, visitors could explore our “Tradition Through the Lens” exhibition displayed along the fence.

Több mint 800 látogatót fogadtunk a hétvégén a Doors Open Ottawa program keretében. 🏰

Vendégeink betekintést nyerhettek a Birkett-kastélyba, a nagykövet rezidenciájába, és bingo játékunk segítségével alaposan szemügyre vehették az épület minden részletét.

Miközben várakoztak, megtekinthették a kerítésünkön látható „Fotókon a hagyomány” című fotókiállítást is.

🇭🇺 Az ottawai magyar közösség a hétvégén a Magyar Házban gyűlt össze, hogy együtt ünnepelje a nemzeti összetartozás napját. Haás Katalin, első beosztott diplomata hangsúlyozta, hogy bármerre szóródtunk szét a nagyvilágban, mind a magyar nemzet része vagyunk ❤️🤍💚 A nagyszerű műsorhoz minden korosztály hozzájárult.

Katalin Haás, Deputy Head of Mission emphasised that, no matter where in the world we may be scattered, we are all part of the Hungarian nation.❤️🤍💚 All age groups contributed to the captivating program.

🇭🇺 🇨🇦 Ambassador Miklós Lengyel welcomed guests at the opening of HungaroFest Toronto and took part in the Festival’s programs, including giving a Teqball masterclass for the youth. ⚽️ It was uplifting to see so many people celebrating Hungarian culture together in the heart of Toronto 🇨🇦🇭🇺

🇨🇦🤝🇭🇺 On 2 June, the Canada-Hungary Friendship Group held its inaugural meeting, with 22 MPs and senators joining the group. We are delighted that six of them have Hungarian ancestry.

Air Canada, the Embassy, the Consulate General of Hungary in Toronto/Magyarország Torontói Főkonzulátusa and the HEPA Regional Office Canada surprised travellers at the airport with authentic 🇭🇺 culture, courtesy of the Rozmaring Folk Dance Ensemble. On board they were treated to yet another Hungarian surprise - courtesy of Spin Master, they could pass the flight time with a new Rubik's Cube! 💺
