Our CEO, Tom Hunter, was delighted to join Emmy Kelly for a recent episode of On the Way Home, a podcast that brings together the voices and issues involved in ending homelessness in Canada. Tom speaks about what it takes to help seniors age at home in comfort and dignity, including the importance of community-building initiatives like Community Connect+, and how partnerships with Ontario Health are integrating care and housing.
🎙️In case you missed it, this week we were joined by Tom Hunter, CEO of the Toronto Seniors Housing
Tom spoke about his experience working with seniors and what it takes to help them age in dignity and stability. He touched on the significant impact that Community Connect+, an approach focused on increasing tenant participation, has had on the senior community. 🏠👥
Here’s what he had to say: “There’s our Community Connect+ which is our tenant engagement. We implemented our Community Connect+ and we saw our tenant volunteers go from roughly 75 to over 300 now. That’s the work that really feels good.”

Thrilled to share that ’s 34 Oxford Ave. is now home to our latest rooftop solar installation.
The new system is set to generate over 12% of the building’s annual electricity needs on-site, reduce carbon emissions by 75 tonnes a year, and pay for itself in under 10 years. That’s leaner energy, lower costs, and a smaller carbon footprint, all on one rooftop.
Thanks to our partners who made it happen: the Facilities Management team, , and Hydro - your support and expertise turned this project from plan to reality.

Over the past month, we hosted nine Pension Clinics across our buildings, helping senior tenants understand their pensions and benefits.
Office of the Commissioner of Housing Equity, Ontario Disability Support Program and Service Canada reps were on hand with one-on-one support to help tenants make informed decisions about their future. The clinics were available in multiple languages to ensure no one was left out.
The clinics helped tenants understand and access the pension benefits and financial supports available to them as they age.
Thanks to OCHE, ODSP, and Service Canada for their partnership – and to the many TSHC staff that helped make it happen.
