Today, MGH recognizes National Indigenous Peoples Day and celebrates the histories, cultures, traditions and contributions of First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples across Canada.
National Indigenous Peoples Day is held on the summer solstice, a day that holds cultural significance for many Indigenous communities.
MGH is committed to advancing reconciliation and fostering a greater understanding of Indigenous histories, cultures and their impact on the present day.
As part of our ongoing reconciliation efforts, Daniel Chilton, MGH’s Indigenous Patient Navigator, will lead an upcoming learning opportunity for staff on Indigenous traditions, celebrations and community practices.
Through storytelling and cultural teachings, participants will gain a deeper understanding of Indigenous cultures and the importance of culturally safe and respectful care.
