We are Toronto’s food bank. We are on a mission to eliminate food insecurity and advocate for solutions to end poverty.
#WeAreDailyBread

As a leader in the fight against hunger, Daily Bread is more than a food bank. In addition to providing food, Daily Bread also provides services such as community information and referrals, job training, crisis counselling, community gardening and community kitchens, research and public policy, the Who's Hungry report as well as training workshops for staff and volunteers at our member agencies.

Most runners show up to a marathon in running gear. Bridget Burns shows up as a pilot, railroad engineer, zookeeper, and next, a construction worker. 🏃‍♀️✨

A Toronto runner and multiple Guinness World Records holder, Bridget is known for showing up to races in costume and bringing plenty of joy along the way. For Bridget, the costumes are about more than records. They bring smiles to spectators, excitement to kids along the course, and motivation when the miles get tough. As she puts it: “It inspires me to not quit.”

Now, Bridget is bringing that same spirit to the 2026 TCS Toronto Waterfront Marathon by fundraising for Daily Bread Food Bank. At a time when food bank visits in Toronto have reached record highs, every step and every dollar raised can make a difference.

Thinking about fundraising? Bridget’s advice is simple: start where you are, share why the cause matters to you, and invite your community to get involved. “Just don’t have any hesitation, just try your best.” 💛

After celebrating their seventh anniversary, restaurant chain Grandma Loves You set out to give back to the community through a special menu item and their 30 Days of Love campaign.

From May 1–31, $3 from every Pizza Caesar Wrap sold was donated to Daily Bread, turning a simple sandwich into meaningful support for neighbours facing hunger.

We’re thrilled to share that the campaign raised an incredible $15,000 for Daily Bread! To celebrate this impact, the Grandma Loves You team visited our facility for a cheque presentation and tour with our CEO, Neil Hetherington. Thank you to Grandma Loves You for your generosity, partnership, and commitment to helping ensure everyone has access to the food they need. 💛

What an incredible day yesterday!

Partnerships like this remind us what’s possible when organizations come together to support their communities. We are profoundly grateful to 407 ETR for helping meet urgent needs today and for investing in a future where no one goes hungry.

Today, we announced a truly transformative gift: a $1 million donation from 407 ETR to support Daily Bread Food Bank. What can we say, except — WOW ✨

At a time when more than 1 in 10 Torontonians are relying on food banks, this incredible contribution will help us purchase high-demand, nutritious, and culturally appropriate food for people accessing emergency food programs across our network of more than 214 member agencies throughout Toronto.

This donation is part of 407 ETR’s annual One Big Day of volunteering, which saw hundreds of employees giving back across the Greater Toronto Area. We were honoured to welcome members of the 407 ETR team and Board as they rolled up their sleeves alongside us in support of our community.

A special thank you as well to MPP Lee Fairclough for joining us today, along with members of Daily Bread’s Board of Directors.

We are deeply grateful for this partnership and generosity. At a time of unprecedented need, support like this helps put food on tables today while strengthening our collective efforts to build a future where no one goes hungry. Thank you, 407 ETR. 💛

June is National Indigenous History Month; a time to recognize and honour the histories, cultures, leadership, and resilience of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Peoples.

As we reflect on the ongoing journey of reconciliation, we encourage our community to take time to learn, listen, and support Indigenous-led organizations and initiatives.

At Daily Bread Food Bank, we're proud to work alongside member agencies serving Indigenous communities across Toronto, helping foster connection, support, and belonging. If you'd like to learn more about their work, along with resources and Indigenous celebrations taking place across the city, please visit: https://www.dailybread.ca/blog/honouring-national-indigenous-history-month/

June is Pride Month, a celebration of 2SLGBTQIA+ communities and a time to honour the progress made, and recognize the work still needed to build a more equitable future for all 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

This year’s Pride Toronto theme, “We Won’t Stop,” is a powerful call to action. Pride is rooted in community, advocacy, and the ongoing fight for equality, and it reminds us that creating a city where everyone feels safe, valued, and welcomed takes all of us.

At Daily Bread Food Bank, we know that food insecurity doesn't affect everyone equally. Many people continue to face barriers rooted in discrimination and inequity, making it even more important to support inclusive communities where everyone can access the resources and opportunities they need with dignity.

This Pride Month, we encourage our community to celebrate, learn, reflect, and take action. Together, we can help create a stronger sense of belonging for everyone.

We're proud to stand alongside our neighbours, partners, volunteers, and 2SLGBTQIA+ communities this month and every month — including at this year's Pride Parade.

Happy Pride, Toronto!

Today we hosted a group food sort as part of Toronto Tech Week at Daily Bread!

Toronto Tech Week is a citywide celebration of the people building what’s next. It brings founders, investors, and builders together for hundreds of community-led events across Toronto, and we were so grateful to be a part of it!

Thank you to all the volunteers who took part and rolled up their sleeves to give back and support community!

When we put out the call for community champions to participate in the Purolator Red Bag School Challenge, 13 schools stepped up. Together, they collected an amazing 11,603 pounds of food in support of Daily Bread Food Bank. That means 11,603 meals for neighbours in need! 🥫

👏 A huge congratulations to our winning school, who collected the most food! As the challenge champions, they celebrated with a very sweet reward: an afternoon visit from an ice cream truck parked right at their school 🍦

As hunger and food insecurity continue to rise across our city, we're so grateful to every participating school for their compassion, generosity, and commitment to giving back.

Thank you for showing what’s possible when communities come together 🫶
