When Canadian Tire brought employees together for Easter Seals Red Shirt Day, Geneva Centre and Sonderly were proud to be part of the conversation ✨

Our Employment Consultant, Char Zozzolotto, joined a panel discussion to share what meaningful workplace inclusion can look like in practice. Employees also had the opportunity to connect with us through our information booth and activity station, learning more about the work we do and the importance of creating inclusive workplaces πŸ’Ό

Because building a more inclusive world starts with conversations like these and the connections made along the way ❀️

Everyday routines can look different for every child, from haircuts and dentist visits to bedtime and helping at home. With our Essential Skills program, we help children with extra support and opportunities to build confidence with these experiences.

This summer, we're opening our doors to children ages 7–12 for a program that helps build confidence with everyday experiences πŸ†

Here's what makes it special:
βœ‚οΈ A real mock hair salon (chair, cape, mirror and all the works!) to practice haircut day stress-free
🦷 A dental space to prep for the real deal
🍳 A teaching kitchen for cooking up confidence
πŸŒ™ A cozy bedroom space for calm-down & bedtime routines

Every child gets 1:1 support from our incredible team, supervised by a Registered Behaviour Analyst, plus the summer fun doesn't stop there! Think dance parties, yoga, gardening, and community outings πŸŒ»πŸ’ƒ

And parents, you're part of the team too! The skills built here come home with you.

πŸ‘‹ Swipe through to meet the amazing team behind the program!

Exploring Inclusive Employment in Action ✨

Members of our Community & Employment Options Program recently had the wonderful opportunity to visit We Candle, a truly inspiring workplace committed to inclusive, fairly paid employment for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities and those facing barriers to work.

During our visit, the incredible Candle Makers provided our team with a hands-on, immersive experience, showcasing the care, skill, and dedication behind every candle and fulfilled order. It was a meaningful glimpse into a workplace where inclusion and craftsmanship go hand in hand✨

We are really inspired by the work happening at WeCandle Co. and look forward to future collaboration opportunities 🌟

When Life Gives You Lemons, Make Lemonade! β˜€οΈπŸ‹

Last month, our Adult Day Respite team hosted a lemonade stand to welcome the summer weather! Clients helped plan, prepare, and serve refreshing lemonade and iced tea to members of both the Geneva Centre and Merton Street community πŸ§ƒπŸ’›

Each cup also came with a hand-written compliment card, thoughtfully created by our clients, spreading a little extra kindness with every drink πŸ’Œ

The afternoon was a wonderful opportunity to connect with our community, enjoy the sunshine, and share some smiles along the way 🌞

A space made just for siblings 🀍

In March, we hosted our GCA Connects: In-Person Sibling Support Group designed for children ages 6 to 12 who have a sibling with ASD. Together, they played games, took part in activities, and created a space to share their experiences, ask questions, and build real friendships ✨

Shout-out to the intake team for holding such a warm and welcoming space. And we cannot wait to do it again πŸ™Œ
