Can a lone child make a difference in their community? Long-time YSM volunteer and donor, John Fenton, proved the answer is yes!

When just 11 years old, John first visited YSM with his father. That experience sparked a lifelong commitment to helping neighbours in need.

Over the next 79 years, John raised well more than $250,000 for YSM, while also volunteering countless hours and inspiring many others through his generosity.

Today, his legacy lives on through our John Fenton Junior Fundraisers program, which helps children aged 8-12 learn how to make a difference in their communities through simple fundraising and collection drive activities.

Whether you're a teacher, parent, children's pastor or community organizer, our free resources can help inspire the next generation of changemakers!

A huge thank you to the team from Oxford Properties Group for spending the day volunteering at our Double Take YSM thrift store!

From organizing our book section and sorting fabric for our Upcycling Studio's community market, to processing clothing donations behind the scenes, the team jumped in wherever help was needed. According to Sharon, our Double Take Manager, they were incredibly efficient and made a big impact in just a few hours.

We're grateful for partners like Oxford Properties who help keep Double Take running smoothly while supporting programs to create opportunities for youth and adults in our community.

Toronto is preparing to welcome the world this summer!

As our city hosts FIFA World Cup events, YSM will continue to support people experiencing poverty, homelessness and social isolation, ensuring access to food, essential supplies and care throughout the season.

We recognize that major events can bring both opportunity and added pressure on vulnerable communities. Our commitment remains the same: to be present, responsive and ready to help. Because a welcoming city is one that cares for everyone.

Only 14 of Toronto’s 158 neighbourhoods have adequate childcare coverage and nearly all are in affluent downtown and mid-town communities.

At YSM, we believe every child deserves access to education, support and opportunity, regardless of their postal code.

Through our Cornerstone Family Services team, we support families navigating poverty with daycare programs, academic tutoring, computer and robotics classes, STEM-focused camps, scholarships and more.

By investing in children and families today, we’re helping build stronger futures for tomorrow.
