Toronto police have arrested Michael Robert Ashley, 43, of Burlington, Ontario, for a sexual assault that occurred in 2008.
In 2025, the cold case was selected for investigative genetic genealogy, which resulted in the identification of a suspect.

Bryan Hayward whispered to a barely conscious woman, “Don’t worry, you’re not going to remember this.”
Hayward pleaded guilty to 21 charges to seven women.
He will return to court in September for a 17 day trial that will address several additional charges involving other alleged victims.

Derek Stephen Bellamy, 38, of Oshawa, Ontario, was charged with sexual assault, administering a noxious substances, five counts each of voyeurism and possessing a recording obtained by voyeurism, possessing child sexual abuse and exploitation material and accessing child sexual abuse and exploitation material.
“Investigators executed a search warrant at the suspect’s Oshawa home, where they reportedly found several “electronic devices” as well as the same drug used in the Dec. 12 offence.
Evidence of child sexual abuse and exploitation material were also found.”
Bellamy is accused of drugging and sexually assaulting a victim who moved to Canada to care for his children and investigators are concerned there may be additional victims.

Make Sexually Explicit Material Available to Peron Under 18 for the Purpose of Facilitating Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation Material,
Luring Person Under 16 to Facilitate Invitation to Sexual Touching,
and Publish Intimate Image Without Consent.
Police believe there may be more victims.

She plead guilty to child exploitation and was sentenced to 2 years in a federal penitentiary and 2 years community supervision
64 year old Karen Spence, of Georgina, Ontario, has been charged with three counts each of sexual assault and sexual exploitation of a young person in an historical sexual assault case.
Detectives said Spence worked as a Girl Guides leader in the Georgina area from 1995 to 2001, where she held roles as a Sparks leader – for five- to six-year-olds – and a Pathfinders leader. They said she also served as a youth hockey coach and referee.
The crimes were committed between January 1998 and September 2002, when the victim was under the age of 16. Police said at the time the offences began, the Pathfinders leader was 38 years old.

57-year-old Jai Veer Etvaru, also be known as Jai Mangal Krishnanad, has been charged with sexual interference, sexual exploitation, and four counts of sexual assault.
Police have released his image as they believe there may be more victims.
He claims to be a counsellor, homeopathic life coach, and astrologer, as well as an “energy healer” and a masseuse who advertised his services online.
