Support and encouragement from the people around us can make an enormous difference in eating disorder recovery. Whether it comes from loved ones, peers, or thearpists, having someone who listens, believes you, and walks alongside you can help make the journey feel less overwhelming.

This World Eating Disorders Action Day, we're sharing stories that highlight the impact of connection - the quiet check-ins, the steady encouragement, the professionals who offer guidance and understanding. Recovery is never meant to be done alone, and meaningful care includes the people who show up with compassion and consistency. Start Care Together.

Myth: There’s a “right time” to access support.
Fact: Support isn’t something you have to earn—and there’s no perfect moment to reach out.

Eating disorders don’t always look the same, and they don’t follow a set timeline. You don’t need to hit a certain level of struggle, have a clear label, or feel 100% certain before seeking help. Whether you’re questioning your relationship with food, feeling unsure, or simply curious, your experience matters right now.

Reaching out early—or at any stage—can open the door to understanding, connection, and
care. You deserve support without needing to prove anything first.

💛 If this resonates with you, know that support is available—whether that’s accessing information, reaching out to someone you trust, or even joining one of our support groups.

When we talk about meaningful eating disorder care, access matters - access to timely support, compassionate providers, and specialized treatment that understands the complexity of these illnesses. For too many people, that care is still out of reach.

By sharing our stories and highlighting the urgent need for sustained funding, research, and coordinated systems of care, we help to break the stigma and move toward a world where support is available when it’s needed most.

This is what “Stop Stigma, Start Care, Together” looks like in action.

Eating disorders affect people of all genders, ages, races, ethnicities, body shapes, sexual orientations, and socioeconomic backgrounds. These illnesses don't discriminate - but stigma and stereotypes often do, leaving many people unseen, unsupported, or misdiagnosed.

This World Eating Disorders Action Day, we're challenging the narratives that erase so many lived experiences. When we broaden our understanding of who is affected, we open the door to earlier detection, better care, and a more inclusive path to recovery. Stop Stigma, Start Care.

Tuesday Tip of the Day 💛

Reconnecting with your body doesn’t have to be overwhelming. In recovery, small and consistent steps can help rebuild trust with your body’s signals. This might look like noticing your hunger cues, taking a pause to check in with your thoughts, or gently practicing body/sensation awareness.

✨ Try one tiny action today: take a few breaths, stretch, or ask yourself, “What does my body need right now?”

What's one thing you do to reconnect with your body?

The truth is that eating disorders don't have a look. Weight and appearance are not reliable indicators of struggle, severity, or recovery. This World Eating Disorders Action Day, we're challenging the stigma that keeps people unseen and unsupported. Meaningful care begins when we stop relying on appearance and start listening to people's experiences.

The belief that someone has to be “sick enough” to deserve help is one of the most damaging myths surrounding eating disorders. Denial and minimization are often part of the illness itself, making it even harder for people to recognize when they need support.

This World Eating Disorders Action Day, we’re sharing stories that challenge the idea of waiting until things get worse. Care is not something you earn - it’s something you deserve. Reaching out early, even when doubt or denial are present, is an act of strength.

Eating disorder recovery is not a one-size-fits all journey. What works for one person may not work for another - and meaningful care recognizes those differences. People need support that reflects their unique experiences, identities, bodies, and needs.

This World Eating Disorders Action Day, we're sharing stories that highlight the importance of flexible, individualized care. When treatment adapts to the person - not the other way around - recovery becomes more accessible, compassionate, and effective.
