Hong Kong's Higher Education System Hits New Level in QS World World University Rankings 2027

According to the latest 2027 World University Rankings published by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), an international higher education institution, the eight universities funded by the University Grants Committee (UGC) have achieved outstanding results, with five of them maintaining their positions among the world's top 100.

the University of Hong Kong has continued to hold its position at 11th in the world, the overall rankings of the other seven UGC-funded universities have all risen significantly compared to last year, which is highly encouraging. Notably, the Chinese University of Hong Kong rose 14 places to 18th. This represents the first time that two Hong Kong universities rank in the global top 20. The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology rose 11 places to 33rd, and the Hong Kong Polytechnic University climbed four places to 50th, entering the world's top 50 for the first time.

香港高等教育體系表現於QS 2027年世界大學排名中再創高峰

根據國際高等教育機構Quacquarelli Symonds（QS）最新公布的二○二七年世界大學排名，八所大學教育資助委員會（教資會）資助大學表現卓越，五所教資會資助大學繼續躋身世界百強。

香港大學穩守全球第11位，另外七所教資會資助大學的整體排名均較去年顯著上升，成績令人極為鼓舞。其中香港中文大學躍升14位至第18位，這也是首次有兩所香港的大學躋身全球前20名。香港科技大學上升11位至第33位，而香港理工大學上升四位至第50位，首次躋身世界五十強。

Breaking News! Hong Kong has moved up one place to become the No.2 most competitive economy, according to the latest World Competitiveness Ranking 2026, published today (Jun 18) by the International Institute for Management Development. It is Hong Kong’s highest ranking since 2019, following three consecutive years of improvement. Among 70 economies assessed, Hong Kong ranked No.2 in “Government efficiency” and No.3 in “Business efficiency” competitiveness factors. Among the competitiveness sub-factors, Hong Kong ranked No. 1 for both “Tax policy” and “Business legislation”. The rankings reflect the international community's trust in Hong Kong's legal and regulatory environment, as well as the seamless alignment of the city's business practices and environment with international best standards.
