Welcome to the official page of the EU Delegation to the UN and other international organisations in Geneva

Comments are welcome.

Please stay on topic. We do not accept insulting or offensive comments. The EU promotes co-operation at international level and has established a strong relationship with the UN. It co-operates across virtually the entire range of UN activities, from development policy and disarmament to humanitarian assistance, environment and human rights.

In conflict after conflict, one reality remains: women & girls are regularly - sometimes systematically - targeted. Yesterday, we hosted with “Women on the Frontline”, an evening of artistic expression, showcasing works by women from conflict-affected regions.

No one chooses to leave everything behind. A home, a language, a community, a sense of belonging – all of it, gone in an instant, because staying was no longer safe.

Right now, more than 117 million people around the world are living this reality.

41.6 million of them are refugees.

And nearly 4 in 10 are children, who should be in classrooms and playing with friends, not carrying the weight of displacement.

This arrives at a heavier moment than most. Conflicts are intensifying. Funding is shrinking. And the needs of people who have lost almost everything keep growing.

Still, what we can offer hasn't changed: our solidarity. Refugees deserve safety, dignity, and the chance to rebuild a life that's truly theirs again.

Happy Birthday, 🇺🇳Human Rights Council! On 19 June 2006, the Council held its 1st session in Geneva. Over the past 20 years, it has grown into the world’s leading human rights body - with one goal: advancing human rights for everyone, everywhere. The 🇪🇺EU will always speak up for that!

This has to end. 65 countries still criminalise consensual same-sex relations.

Words are not enough. In 2024, the EU supported 10,500 human rights defenders worldwide.

21% were LGBTIQ+.

Reliable. And that’s the whole point.

It was a pleasure to host International Gender Champions (IGC) discussion yesterday. On the agenda: AI. „The world we know has a gender equality problem. AI mirrors the gender bias in our society, often associating women with subservient roles while linking men to executive & scientific careers“ 🇪🇺Amb Potzel

Democracy in Bangladesh depends on trust.

During the 2026 Parliamentary Elections, the EU deployed 223 observers from across
Europe and beyond.

Watching. Reporting. Holding the line.
