Dialogue with the Commissioner, Brussels, 18th June 2026.

Young people from across the Mediterranean sat down again with the Commissioner for the Mediterranean to discuss the issues at the heart of the Pact’ people pillar: opportunity, mobility, the Mediterranean University, the Youth Parliamentary Assembly, and a real say in decisions that impact their lives.

This is what the dialogue is built on, a structured, recurring platform that brings young people into direct conversation to channel their perspectives to the highest levels and contributing to the Pact and its Action Plan.

Thank you to the young people, Commissioner and for opening this channel. Thank you to the Permanent Representation of Cyprus to the EU, for hosting us, and to Deputy Minister Marilena Raouna for the opening remarks and for taking time to engage with the youth.

Wrapping up our first day in Brussels for the Euro-Mediterranean Youth Dialogue!

We were honoured to have Mrs. Katerina Wolfova, Head of Unit, DGMENA, Egypt and Pact for the Mediterranean at the European Commission, join us for the opening remarks.

A busy day included informal coffee chats with EU officials, where young leaders from across the Mediterranean engaged on topics of relevance to their countries. The day concluded with preparations for tomorrow’s dialogue with the Commissioner for the Mediterranean.

Over 9-10 June, ALF held its Heads of National Civil Society Networks Meeting in Berlin, Germany.

We were pleased to be joined by Stefano Dotto, Team Leader for Good Governance at DG MENA, European Commission, for the opening remarks. His participation provided an opportunity to engage directly with the Heads of Networks and hear firsthand about the realities, and challenges facing civil society across the Euro-Mediterranean region.

Over the two days, the ALF Secretariat and Heads of Networks engaged in a series of working sessions and discussions focused on strengthening the Foundation’s programmes and activities, strengthening cross-network collaboration, exploring more strategic fundraising approaches, and enhancing strategic communications across the Networks through a dedicated communications training.

We extend our gratitude to the German Network for hosting and the meeting, and for their valuable support.
