شارك أكثر من 500 شاب وشابة في ماراثون مصغر احتفالًا باليوم العالمي للمتبرعين بالدم، تأكيدًا على أن كل تبرع بالدم هو عمل إنساني يُسهم في إنقاذ حياة الآخرين.

تعاونت منظمة الصحة العالمية في مصر مع وزارة الصحة والسكان ووزارة الشباب والرياضة وشريان العطاء، لتنظيم هذه الفعالية، بمشاركة رياضيين وطلاب جامعات وممثلين عن مؤسسات المجتمع المدني، بهدف رفع الوعي بأهمية التبرع الطوعي والمنتظم بالدم، وتشجيع المزيد من الأشخاص على أن يصبحوا متبرعين دائمين.

واختُتم الماراثون بحملة للتبرع بالدم، لترجمة الوعي إلى عمل، والمساهمة في دعم إمدادات آمنة ومستدامة من الدم، بما يساعد على إنقاذ الأرواح في جميع أنحاء مصر.

More than 500 youth competitors came together for a mini-marathon to celebrate World Blood Donor Day and show that every blood donation is an act of humanity.

WHO Egypt collaborated with the Ministry of Health and Population, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, and Shoryan Al-Ataa, to organize the event that brought together athletes, university students, and civil society representatives to raise awareness about the importance of regular, voluntary blood donation and encourage more people to become lifelong blood donors.

The marathon was followed by a blood donation drive, turning awareness into action and helping strengthen a safe and sustainable blood supply that can save lives across Egypt.

عقدت منظمة الصحة العالمية، بالتعاون مع وزارة الصحة والسكان ممثلة في الأمانة العامة للصحة النفسية وعلاج الإدمان، وصندوق مكافحة وعلاج الإدمان والتعاطي، وبمشاركة مكتب الأمم المتحدة المعني بالمخدرات والجريمة، حوارًا وطنيًا رفيع المستوى لتعزيز اجراءات الصحة العامة بشأن تعاطي مواد الإدمان في مصر.

ويهدف الحوار إلى تعزيز التعاون بين مختلف الجهات المعنية لدعم تنفيذ الاستراتيجية الوطنية لمكافحة الإدمان، والتى تتوافق أهدافها مع أهداف المبادرة الرائدة للمدير الإقليمى لمنظمة الصحة العالمية لإقليم شرق المتوسط، بما يسهم في تعزيز الوقاية، والتوسع فى إتاحة خدمات العلاج، وحماية صحة الأفراد والمجتمع.

WHO, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Population, represented by the General Secretariat of Mental Health and Addiction Treatment, and the Fund for Drug Control and Treatment of Addiction, with the participation of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), convened a high-level national dialogue to strengthen the public health response to substance use in Egypt.

The dialogue aims to strengthen collaboration among key stakeholders to support the implementation of Egypt's National Strategy to Combat Addiction. The strategy aligns with the priorities of the WHO Regional Director for the Eastern Mediterranean's flagship initiative and seeks to enhance prevention efforts, expand access to treatment services, and protect the health and well-being of individuals and communities.

عينات المختبر لا تبقى دائماً داخل أروقة المختبر. وقد تحتاج إلى النقل من مكان إلى آخر، وأحياناً عبر الجو. كل خطوة في هذه الرحلة لها أهميتها.

سواء لأغراض ترصد الأمراض أو الاستجابة للفاشيات أو البحث العلمي، يعد النقل الآمن للمواد المعدية أمراً بالغ الأهمية. وتسهم ممارسات النقل الآمن في حماية العاملين في المختبرات وناقلي الشحنات والمجتمعات والبيئة، مع ضمان وصول العينات إلى وجهتها بأمان وفي الوقت المحدد.

نظمت منظمة الصحة العالمية مكتب مصر ومنظمة الأغذية والزراعة للأمم المتحدة (الفاو) مكتب مصر ورشة عمل مدتها 5 أيام حول النقل الآمن للمواد المعدية والبضائع الخطرة، بدعم من صندوق الوقاية من الجوائح لتعزيز قدرات مصر في مجالات الأمان البيولوجي والأمن البيولوجي والاستعداد لأي مخاطر صحية محتملة.

وللمرة الأولى، جمعت ورشة العمل 20 مشاركاً من قطاع الصحة البشرية والحيوانية، في تجسيد لمنهج الصحة الواحدة.

تخرجت من الورشة دفعة من المتخصصين المعتمدين في النقل الآمن للمواد المعدية وفق لوائح البضائع الخطرة الصادرة عن الرابطة الدولية للنقل الجوي. حصل هؤلاء المتخصصون على المهارات اللازمة لتحضير المواد المعدية وتغليفها وتوثيقها تمهيداً لنقلها جواً، مما يسهم في ضمان وصول العينات البيولوجية الحيوية بأمان ودون تأخير.

Laboratory samples do not always stop at the laboratory door. They may need to be transported from one place to another, sometimes by air. Every step of that journey matters.

Whether for disease surveillance, outbreak response or research, the safe transport of infectious substances is essential. Safe transport practices help protect laboratory personnel, transport operators, communities and the environment, while ensuring that specimens reach their destination safely and on time.

WHO Egypt and FAO Egypt organized a 5-day workshop on the safe transport of infectious substances and dangerous goods, with support from the Pandemic Fund to strengthen Egypt’s biosafety, biosecurity and preparedness capacities.
For the first time, the workshop brought together 20 participants from the human and animal health sectors, reflecting a One Health approach.

The workshop resulted in a new cohort of professionals certified in the safe transport of infectious substances in accordance with the International Air Transport Association (IATA) Dangerous Goods Regulations. They are now equipped to prepare, package and document infectious substances for air transport, helping ensure that critical biological specimens can be transported safely, securely and without delay.

شارك 68 من مسؤولي الترصد على المستويين المركزي والطرفي من 27 محافظة في تدريب محاكاة وزيارات ميدانية على مدى 3 أيام، لتعزيز الجاهزية والاستجابة السريعة وإجراءات السيطرة من أجل الحفاظ على خلو مصر من شلل الأطفال.

نظمت التدريب منظمة الصحة العالمية في مصر والمكتب الإقليمي لشرق المتوسط، بالتعاون مع البرنامج الموسع للتطعيمات بوزارة الصحة والسكان، وبدعم من صندوق مكافحة الجوائح.

مارس المشاركون الأنشطة الأساسية للترصد والاستجابة، بما في ذلك الاكتشاف المبكر لأي تحديات صحية، والتحقق منها، والتنسيق بين الجهات المعنية، وإجراء التقصي الميداني، وتنفيذ اجراءات الاستجابة والسيطرة عليها.

A total of 68 surveillance officers from national and subnational levels across 27 governorates participated in a 3-day simulation exercise and field visits to strengthen preparedness, rapid response and control measures to maintain Egypt’s polio-free status.

The exercise was organized by WHO Egypt and the WHO Regional Office for the Eastern Mediterranean, in collaboration with the Expanded Programme on Immunization at the Ministry of Health and Population, and with support from the Pandemic Fund.

Participants practised core surveillance and response activities, including early detection of health threats, verification, coordination, field investigation, and implementation of response and control measures.

WHO brought together government leaders, development partners, academia, civil society, philanthropy, religious leaders, youth representatives and the private sector to discuss how collaboration can accelerate better health outcomes for everyone in Egypt.

خالص التهنئة للدكتور محمد حساني، مساعد وزير الصحة والسكان لشؤون مبادرات الصحة العامة، بمناسبة اختياره عضواً في الفريق الاستشاري الاستراتيجي والتقني المعني بفيروس نقص المناعة البشري والتهاب الكبد الفيروسي والأمراض المنقولة جنسياً التابع لمنظمة الصحة العالمية (STAG-HHS)، وذلك لمدة ثلاث سنوات.

ويُعد الفريق الاستشاري الاستراتيجي الهيئة الاستشارية لمنظمة الصحة العالمية، حيث يقدم المشورة الاستراتيجية والتقنية لدعم الجهود العالمية الرامية إلى القضاء على أوبئة فيروس نقص المناعة البشري والتهاب الكبد الفيروسي والأمراض المنقولة جنسياً بحلول عام 2030.

ويعكس هذا الاختيار الخبرات المتميزة للدكتور محمد حساني، كما يبرز إسهام مصر في دعم جهود الصحة العامة على المستوى العالمي.

Warm congratulations to Dr Mohamed Hassany, Assistant Minister of Health and Population for Public Health Initiatives, on his selection as a member of the WHO Strategic and Technical Advisory Group on HIV, Viral Hepatitis and Sexually Transmitted Infections (STAG-HHS) for a three-year term.

The STAG-HHS serves as WHO’s advisory body, providing strategic and technical guidance to support global efforts to end the epidemics of HIV, viral hepatitis and sexually transmitted infections by 2030.

This appointment reflects Dr Hassany’s expertise and highlights Egypt’s contribution to global public health efforts.

العمل ينقذ الأرواح!

بمناسبة 2026، تعاونت منظمة الصحة العالمية في مصر مع الشركاء للاحتفال بهذه المناسبة من خلال تنظيم ثماني فعاليات توعوية وعلمية، وصلت إلى ما يقرب من 1400 من القيادات الصحية والمتخصصين في منع ومكافحة العدوى.

وسلطت الفعاليات الضوء على أهمية الالتزام بالممارسات الصحيحة لنظافة اليدين، ودمج تنفيذ ومتابعة إجراءات نظافة اليدين ضمن خطط العمل على المستويين الوطني ومستوى المنشآت الصحية.

Action saves lives!

On this year's 2026, WHO Egypt collaborated with partners to celebrate the day through eight awareness and scientific events, reaching almost 1400 healthcare leaders and infection prevention and control professionals.

The events highlighted the importance of following the appropriate hand hygiene practices and integrating hand hygiene implementation and monitoring into both the national and facility levels action plans.
